Description of 1961 Other Makes Alpine

1961 Sunbeam Alpine I purchased this Alpine with the idea of building a James Bond 007, Dr. No replica. I haven't had time to get going on this project, so I have decided to let someone else have a chance. The Alpine was actually the first James Bond movie car, not the Aston Martin DB5!
This is a Series I car, the movie car was a Series II. About the only difference is the piece of door glass window channel trim on the leading edge of the doors. This was a disc wheel car when I bought it in 2013, so I ordered a new set of wire wheels, three ear knock-off spinners, and adapters/hubs from Motor Wheel Service in England ($1850). The tires are reproduction wide whitewall Firestones that came on the car. They are like new, although they are getting old. The engine had been changed at some point and fortunately was upgraded to a Series V five main bearing unit with a alternator instead of a generator. It does however have the Series I-II carburetors and intake. The gearbox in the car is the original Series I non-synchro first unit, although I purchased a Series V all-synchro gearbox to install in the car (included). Also included is about $1800 worth of new rubber, trim, door handles, trunk hinges, beautiful wood steering wheel, convertible top, hardtop headliner, Alpine nameplates, Bonnett badge, etc.(all pictured). I purchased the car from Los Angles, California so I could get about as rust free of a car as possible. It does have some rust pinholes at the bottom part of the fenders and area forward of the hood (pictured), but the floor pans are nice and solid. The underside of the car is nice and solid. The trunk bottom is also solid. The rear window is missing from the hardtop, although new ones are available through one of the Sunbeam specialist. The car needs a complete restoration, but will make a very nice Alpine when finished. Sold as is, no warranty expressed or implied.
