This auction is for an incredibly rare Sports car that was far ahead of its time-a 1990 Mosler built Consulier GTP LX. The listing says 1980. car is a 1990-I had to list as 1980 as the site would not recognize the Mosler VIN. Created . esigned and built by Warren Mosler and his US based company. the GTP was designed to be the fastest street legal car around a race track. In order to accomplish this. Mosler employed some of the automotive industries most talented folk-Indy and Formula car builder designer the chassis. advanced composite engineers formulated the monocoque composite chassis. an extremely lightweight powertrain utilized turbochargers. fuel injection and mid engine for perfect balance. Far lighter than contemporary Ferrari. Porsche. orvette and Lamborghini designs. the Mosler Consulier was able to produce world beating performance from a small. efficient turbo 4 powerplant. This drivetrain was used to great result in Carroll Shelby's turbo era cars like the GLHS and CSX. In the GTP. its mid mounted. RWD. lightweight and with its superior lay out is an outstanding performer-with the added benefit of great fuel economy. I've seen 30+MPG on the highway! No kit car-this GTP was sold as a completed and fully US legal vehicle-titled as a Mosler. This car was originally owned by its first owner in Florida. He owned the car for most of its history until it was sold to a high end sportscar dealer in Florida. I purchased the GTP from them. While the car was in very good running condition and was very original. I decided I wanted to upgrade the interior. The entire interior was replaced and refurbished. New. Alcantara Recaros. custom fabricated alcantara door panels(by a well known Ferrari fabricator) with Porsche RS door pulls. Lightweight RS style carper was fitted throughout and an alcantatra headliner installed. A Racemark vintage steering wheel replaced the original. All of the original bits are included with sale. Additional improvements were made. Hand fabricated. expanded metal(to match rear grill) was designed and installed in the rear deck lid louver/vents. greatly improving rigidity. function and appearance. A custom. mandrel bent stainless exhaust system is now on the car. It has a new catalytic convertor as well as a fabbed test pipe that can replace the cat on "test" days. This GTP is the LX model that includes leather interior. AC. sunroof and power windows. Both power window motors were rebuilt to ensure rapid opening/closing of both windows. The AC blows cold and all lights and switches work as they should. The radiator was rebuilt. ew thermostat installed and coolant flushed. All hoses and belts were replaced. The fuel tank was removed. leaned/sealed and installed with new fuel pump. ender and lines. The car drives well. rides unbelievably well and is very nimble and responsive. The engine is stock and passes emissions without difficulty. There is MUCH more performance to be easily had from this Shelby designed powertrain. A GTP back east has a modded turbo four and is a 10 second. 180 MPH supercar!Another benefit of owning this GTP is that you will never see another one at your local Cars & Coffee. Out here in Socal. Ferraris are as common as Camrys. yet this Consulier stops traffic and every gas stop is a Q&A session. Its always been a hit at every show I've attended with it. As it was designed to dominate on track. it would be a simple matter to reset the alignment. install sticky tires and have a blast at an autocross of track session. These cars were so good they were banned from the IMSA Supercar serie. the One Lap of America. tc. tc. This chassis is stamped RACECAR and is identical to the race chassis built by Mosler at his Florida Skunkworks. This GTP is still finished in its original red. While it still shows well. there are a number of chips. cuffs. tc in the finish. I would have touched them up. but its cool to show off the bare carbon to doubters. Any other issues? Not much. The fuel gauge is inaccurate despite replacing the tank and sender. I believe it needs a gauge(easily obtained from VDO). The speedo is also suspect and is available from VDO. In short. here is your chance to own a very rare. custom built sportscar/supercar from some of the greatest names in the American performance world. There were well under 100 produced and a dozen of so like this example-rare. indeed! Many of the parts are easily sourced and there is a very good Consulier website that is a wealth of info about these cars. The GTP is sold "as is" and Offered at no reserve. thanks for looking.
