For sale: 1948 Hudson Commodore 4 door sedan. 472 cubic inch Cadillac V8 engine. 400 Turbo Automatic transmission. Camaro front clip. Ford 9” rear end. 4 wheel power disc brakes. Air Bags. nicely restored interior done in gray cloth. good glass with 40% tint. JVC stereo with 9 speakers and a base amp. Power windows and remote doors. Beautiful blue and black paint and the body is straight and solid. 1948 Hudson Commodore 4 door sedan. As the Ad read. “Now… You’re face to face with Tomorrow. ” With the lowest center of gravity of any American production car of the time. they were dubbed the “step-down” Hudson’s because. when entering. one stepped down into them. rather than up. They embodied Hudson’s mono-built body-and-frame construction. had the engine and seats more forward (the rear seat was ahead of the rear wheels). and the floor level was nearly as low as the bottom of the main frame side rails (permitting seats to be based low and between the rails). They were 6 to 7 inches lower than the 1949 Chrysler and Buick. This gave them great handling compared to other makes and the Hudson design went on to dominate NASCAR and AAA stock car races in the early 1950’s.
