Description of 1928 Other Makes 1928 Ahrens Fox NS 4 |
This Ahrens Fox was supplied new in 1928 to E Providence RI and remained in service until 1986 as it was one of the biggest. baddest and most powerful of the Ahrens Fox piston pumpers available. The only restriction to E Providence was the size of the fire house. One of three built to these specifications w/the P model 1200 ci engine. rated 140HP. this truck is believed to be the only survivor of those three. Complete history of this vehicle is known and is available to purchaser. When purchased the truck was in dilapidated condition. We have since procured most of the original components and they have been refitted. The original engine. clutch & pump have undergone complete restoration. The engine still features original cast iron pistons and cylinders with new mains and big end bearings. Timing gears were re-bushed. tappets have new pins & rollers. Magneto is a rebuilt Bosch twin ignition. A new clutch pressure plate was manufactured and fitted as original was cracked. this is probably what took the truck out of service. A new radiator core was fitted by a previous owner (1990's). The pump was totally rebuilt with new main and big end bearings. bull gear bearings. drive blocks. oil pump rebuilt. nbsp;and heat exchanger. New cross head pins. pump shafts & pump leathers. rubber pucks and springs were fitted at this time. Pump gauges rebuilt and fully functional. The original Ross pressure valve is fitted but non-functional. thus using the churn valve for pressure relief. New paintwork includes pump. hood. seat base. fuel tank in original color scheme with new gold leaf and nickel plating. Balance of bodywork and paint appears original although possibly repainted possibly in the 1930's. An original booster water tank will be supplied with the truck but not fitted as it needs restoration. Includes: Two nozzles. various Y pieces and hose adapters. nbsp;four rolls of modern 3" hose. 2-1/2" fittings. two Indian knap sack sprayers. unrestored. nbsp;both ladders. poles. etc. Strainers include a modern 6" and an original 5". Rear hose real is fitted but not piped to the pump. A reproduction running board battery box. painted. nbsp;is supplied but not fitted. Baker monitor not included. The truck was entirely rewired. Starter and generator are in good condition. We have completed over 500 miles of driving and have attended various shows over the last 5 years including the Frankenmuth Muster. This truck is capable of pumping all day long. experience speaking with over 100 hours of pumping since restoration. Transport can be negotiated within a realistic distance at $2. 00 per mile. Deposit of $500 must be received within 24hrs. balance must be received within 4 days. Inspection is available and recommended. This truck is being sold as is and with no warranties implied. with clear Ohio title. We have also listed this truck locally. |
