Description of 1965 Pontiac Tempest Custom |
PRICE REDUCED !!! These 60's Pontiac convertibles are getting very hard to find at a reasonable price. Our family has enjoyed this classic Pontiac Tempest Custom Convertible for the last 5-1/2 years, but I have decided to sell due to some house and car projects that need to be completed. Here are some details on the car: -1965 Pontiac Tempest Custom Convertible - 93,585 miles -Original 326ci V8 engine and automatic transmission. -Was purchased new in 1965 by Bill York, Public Relations Executive with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway from 1958 to 2009. -Bill bought it in 1965 at Henges Pontiac in Indianapolis, IN after being chosen to give out the NASCAR rookie of the year award. -Bill drove it to the race track and I have his original employee parking pass from 1966 for the Indy Motor Speedway along with other items from this era. -Mostly Stock with a few upgrades to improve performance and safety. I kept all parts in case you want to restore to ALL original. -Items that have been replaced on the car recently are the radiator, shocks, power convertible top, power brake booster, drum brake pads, interior carpet, interior front door panels, interior rear side panels, muffler, battery. -Upgraded items are an Edelbrock Pontiac Performer Intake Manifold, Edelbrock 4 Barrel Carburetor, Summit Electronic Distributor, Coil Spring Air Bag Boosters on rear coil springs, Shoulder Seat Belts in Driver/Passenger Front Seats. Original parts are included with the sale (See Photos). -Additional items that go with the car that have not been installed are (2) rear shoulder belts and (1) complete kit to upgrade the front brakes from drums to discs. -All interior lights and dashboard items work, including the original AM radio. -Frame and undercarriage feels solid and appear to be in good condition. -Car starts right up, runs great. -Car was restored in the mid-1990's. Originally, it was a white car, but was painted red. Since it is an older restoration, paint has some defects and discolored spots, but not noticeable at 10 foot.
