This well turned out Hemi-powered 1955 Dodge Coronet Custom is available now from the MaxMotive Pittsburgh Showroom. Plenty of power (as well as the sound of power) is generated by a period-correct 331 cubic inch Hemi engine. A complete frame-off restoration was performed and a Fat Man subframe with stainless upper and lower control arms installed. It sports power rack and pinion steering and power front disc brakes so the driveability keeps up with the massive Hemi power. The body was stripped to bare metal and the time and effort was taken to get it just right before the application of mirror-like PPG basecoat/clearcoat black exterior paint. To further highlight the paint, the bumpers and all the trim were re-chromed. With the chrome Ridler wheels, the effect is striking. Air Ride Technologies suspension front and rear allows you to drop it low for shows. Those iconic valve covers with “Chrysler FirePower” stamped on them highlight the nicely detailed engine compartment. The big motor speaks with authority, just in case every head hasn’t turned when you arrived at the show. It’s fed through an Edelbrock carb on an aggressive Hot Heads aluminum intake. It looks great underneath the custom air cleaner. A complete MSD ignition system - including the distributor - gets everything started. A Turbo 350 automatic transmission and Ford 9-inch limited slip rear make up a worthy driveline team for the Hemi. A unique Morningstar shifter is floor-mounted. Sabatini Coachworks in Nazareth PA (the home of Mario Andretti by the way) stitched up a phenomenal custom red Ultra-leather and suede interior with bucket seats. A 3-spoke steering wheel feels and looks great. The modern/classic theme continues with the gauges, all of which are Auto Meter except for the original speedometer. You’ll also notice the tasteful hand-applied pinstriping by Coopstriping. This 1955 Dodge Coronet Custom is a complete, slammed in the dirt Hemi hot rod with a brand and period correct power plant, foot-deep black paint, plus modern driveability and sound system.
