Description of 1953 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic

1953 Volkswagen Beetle, extremely rare 1st year of the Oval window design. Lowest production model year of the Oval window beetle as it was only produced for a few months as a true “oval,” earlier 1953 models (Zwitters) shared many features with the previous split window models.

It is powered by a 1131cc 25hp 4-cylinder engine with a split-case 4-speed transaxle. Engine correctly adorned with Solex 1-barrel carburetor, strap-over air-filter assembly, 6V system big nut generator, round regulator, and flat-top distributor. Engine # 1-691134 lines up perfectly for a Late November build which corresponds to the chassis number of this car, #10571636.

It was professionally restored to show quality with stunning details and focus on using correct OEM parts. All glass has Sekurit logo and is optioned with Pop out Quarter windows. Additional features of this model include Euro bumpers with short guards, semaphore turn signals, heart taillights, rear Hella stop lamp accessory, locking engine cover, rear H-pattern apron with no exhaust cutouts, big-mouth flat-top fuel tank, and five two tone Original rims with OEM caps and wide white tires, including spare.

The interior has factory correct seating with red reproduction upholstery and tan square-weave carpet, correct early oval dash and components, on-and-off ignition switch, push-button start, speedometer, batwing steering wheel, under-dash dome, gauge lamp switch, chrome pull ashtray door, under-dash cigar lighter assembly, accessory dash clock and a Blaupunkt push-button radio. Radio does not currently work but is hooked up with new speaker.

Certainly one of the finest examples Extant. Runs and drives beautifully.
