Description of 1972 Datsun Z-Series |
This is an original, low mileage, 1972 Datsun 240Z that needs restoration. You can message me through eBay or call or text me at 352-283-0268 if you want additional information. HISTORY: This car was first titled on October 27, 1972, in Ohio. I was told that it was stored in a barn for many years and that the 47,080 miles on the odometer are original (which is also recorded as accurate on the title.) The condition of the dash, gauges, seats, and other interior components does seem to support the low mileage. The second owner rescued it from the barn in April 2022 but never got around to restoring it. I am the third owner, and it comes with a clear Florida title in my company’s name. A copy of the original 1972 title also comes with the car. INTERIOR / CHROME: The interior is in good shape for its age. The dash is extremely nice, which I understand is rare to find. The seats slide and adjust very well. The chrome and bumpers are in good overall condition. The car is very complete -- the only things I have found missing are the jack, front carpets, battery, and door mirror glass. MECHANICAL: The engine is stuck and does not turn over. I put a battery in the car, but the starter cannot crank the engine. I also could not turn the engine by hand so I assume it will need a complete rebuild. When my battery was in the car, I found that most of the electrical components are working. The radio, wipers, dash lights, running lights, and gauges work, but the headlights don’t come on. The car rolls easily, and the shifter goes in and out of park smoothly, but the brakes don’t work. The tires are extremely old. The spare wheel is in the car but does not have a tire on it. BODY / FLOORS / PAINT: The floors and undercarriage appear to be original and unmodified. There is plenty of rust, but many replacement panels and parts seem to be available online. The spare wheel well is very solid. The hood, doors, rear hatch, and gas filler door open, close, and latch nicely. I was told it had one repaint in the original color a very long time ago. The paint is old, and the body has rust, scratches, and dents. The windshield is cracked, but all the other glass is extremely nice. The door windows roll up and down very well. TITLE TRANSFER AND PAPERWORK: I am a long-time classic car hobbyist and a licensed Florida car dealer (Classic Investment Motorcars Inc.) This means that you must complete the required sales and title transfer forms with me, which can be done in person or through mail. The car cannot be released until I have received all completed paperwork and payment in full. DOCUMENTATION FEE: A flat fee of $100 is added on all vehicle purchases to help cover postage, paperwork, vehicle preparation, and other costs. Please understand that this fee cannot be waived. This fee applies regardless of whether you are an individual or a dealer. SALES TAX: If the vehicle is shipped out of Florida by common carrier or freight forwarder, I will not need to collect sales tax (you will take care of that where you live.) If you live in Florida, I am required to collect sales tax and tag/title fees. If you live in another state but want to pick up the car in Florida, I am still required to collect sales tax, but most states will give you credit for the sales tax I collect (in this case the sales tax rate will be the lesser of 6% or the rate that applies to you in your state.) Please feel free to contact me to find out how the tax rules will apply for your specific state and whether you will get credit for the tax. DEPOSIT AND PAYMENT:A $500 non-refundable deposit is due within 24 hours of the end of the listing. The balance must be paid by cash or wire transfer within seven days. CARAMEL is not accepted. If the buyer does not pay in accordance with these requirements, I may, at my option, re-list/remarket the vehicle and the deposit will be forfeited by the buyer. SHIPPING:Arranging and paying for shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. I am happy to cooperate with whatever shipping company you choose. THIS VEHICLE IS BEING SOLD AS-IS, WHERE-IS, WITH NO WARRANTY, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. Please feel free to inspect the car in person or have it inspected by an inspection service. Cars are shown by appointment only, but we are available most days. Please note that if you are the winning buyer, you will have entered into a contract to complete the purchase in accordance with eBay rules. The sale location is Bell, Florida, Florida law governs, and venue lies exclusively in Gilchrist County, Florida. |
