Description of 1956 Packard Carribean Convertible |
I have for sale a very special 1956 Packard Caribbean Convertible #1084, known as “White Cloud” in the Packard community. It has been documented in many Packard Club magazine articles (Packard Cormorant of Autumn 1987). Of the 276 convertibles that were built in 1956, it is the only one that is optioned this way. It is among only 31 known to be originally painted in a single color, this one is the "M" paint code Dover White. Only 4 Caribbeans were painted all M code Dover white this year. Though it's not indicated on the VIN plate but is listed on the shipping order, this Caribbean has Trim code 37, which is all white leather on both sides of the cushions and dashboard. Another rare option this car has is the motor-wheel wire wheels, this is 1 of 6 convertibles in 1956 that had the chrome wire spoke wheel option. Today only 120 or so of these 1956 Caribbean convertibles are left, and this would likely be the most valuable of all the 1956 Caribbeans produced. These Caribbean convertibles have been appreciating as blue chip collector car investments and will continue to rise especially since they are recognized as a full classic by the AACA. This Caribbean is partway through its concours quality restoration. There has been over $50,000 invested at a Packard restoration shop in what has been done so far. I have all the restoration receipts, detailed history, shipping/build sheet that lists the factory options, restoration process photos, documentation, correspondence with previous owners and extra/duplicate parts to go with this car. Contact Jim – 815.252.7247 - Serious Inquiries only please. The old black & white picture is of the car in the 1970's Here is a link to more pictures - I have an almost complete storied history of this well-known car “White Cloud”. Below is a brief outline: White Cloud’s Options: Here is a list of what has been restored to a very high quality: To be completed: |
