Description of 1935 Packard Twelve 1207 5-passenger Club Sedan |
1935 Packard Twelve 1207 5-passenger Club Sedan Very solid, older restored example with great original appeal! Retaining all factory equipment, and recently serviced by Packard expert Mark Ohm. Sporting a 139″ wheelbase, dual side mounts, excellent structure & rust free attributes, this example should make for a terrific twelve cylinder Packard for a driving and touring enthusiast looking for proper CCCA Full Classic. Continuing with Packard's model year number designations, 1935 became the 12th-Series. As with all previous years, refinements and improvements were made. These included an inclined radiator for a more streamlined front end, wider bumpers, increased engine horsepower with faster acceleration & better performance, copper alloy connecting rods for longer life, larger oil lines & oil filter, improved carburetor choke, stronger chassis with better weight distribution proving to provide a better ride, larger passenger compartments, chassis lubrication system, ride control system, cushion clutch, power brakes, and much more! Matching the new number series, there would be 12 models offered with the Twelve engine and two optional chassis sizes. Offered here is a 1935 Packard Twelve 1207 5-passenger Club Sedan. Fitted on the smaller, sportier 139" chassis, this wonderfully preserved example has been part of a collection in Dothan, AL for the past 16 years, with prior ownership out of Texas. Still fitted with its original 473ci V12 engine (#903329) providing a powerful 175 horsepower and 3-speed synchromesh floor-shifted transmission. Additional features and options include dual side-mounted spare tires with steel covers & Packard mirrors, full wheel disc covers, Lester Tire Company 7.00-17 6-ply wide whitewall tires, Packard Deluxe AM radio with tone control, Packard driving lights, Cormorant hood mascot, carpeted body trunk, and rear auxiliary trunk rack. Our example was sold new from Packard Motor Car Company in Stamford, Connecticut on April 30th, 1935. It made later made its way to Texas, then on to be owned by Charles Newton in Dothan, AL. Showing only 61,168 miles on the odometer, it would appear today as an older, one time cosmetically restored example always maintained as a good driver. Upon arrival to St. Louis, we asked Packard historian and expert Mark Ohm to go through the engine mechanics to ensure it would continue to be a faithful driver and user friendly example. He replaced both cylinder heads for brand new ones with fresh gaskets, rebuilt the water pump with new shaft & sealed bearings, rebuilt the original Stromberg EE-3 carburetor along with replacing the fuel filter, new correct spark plugs & wires, new condensers, and fully tuned the ignition system perfectly! We also had the main wiring harness & starter harness replaced for good measure from Rhodes Island Wiring. All four tires on the ground were replaced along with tubes and fully balanced. It continues to present well with an older repaint, so imperfections are noted here and there. The glass remains very clear with a very presentable interior compartment and engine bay. Provided with this Packard will be a reproduction owner's manual, service manual, shop manual, and parts catalog along with two set of keys. It should make for a delightful example to enjoy, show, drive, and possibly caravan. As a CCCA Full Classic vehicle, it remains a wonderful investment and one we feel is priced accordingly.
