Description of 1953 Packard Clipper |
1953 Packard Clipper 4-door Sedan
Here is one of those classics that really is a time capsule! When you slide into this 1953 Packard Clipper, you get a sense of the year 1953 more than in any other classic I've had. It has a presence and a true originality that a car can only have if nothing has been changed on the inside. If you change anything on the inside of a car, it starts to lose originality that can never be found again. Sit inside this car; it has character and authenticity that is all too rare! You will be spoiled once you shut all four doors and roll all four windows up. They don't act like they are 65 years old! This Packard has a straight-eight 288cid motor and a 6 volt electric system. There is also a newly painted engine and engine bay with Packard gray paint that is period correct. (Only the engine paint and the second coat of exterior paint keep this car from being 100% original.)
Exterior --
Interior –- This is a luxury car, so it won’t sprint off the line. But, you soon realize how much power you have at your control as it eases through the gears. If you've never driven a luxury car from the 50's, you are in for a treat. It's a driving experience like no other! As you get it nearly to cruising speed, the Packard feels larger-than-life, smooth, in-control & commanding. Additionally, the cars of this era have so many features not found on today's cars. The little vent windows (both front and rear,) the extremely heavy steel components, the robe rail for backseat customers, space enough to play basketball in the comfortable and large back seat for a family of six or eight, are just a few. I often think how a car like this one, with its huge, comfortable seats, gives a whole different meaning to the term "road trip." Many younger people don't know the real fun of a road trip with 7 or 8 or 9 or 10 people inside because so many passenger cars today hold only 2-3 people.
It is our hope that this car will sell to someone who really appreciates it, that its combination of originality and low mileage (35,035) is special, and that it's not just another classic car. Thank you for your consideration. |
