Description of 1950 Packard Four-Hundred CUSTOM |
1950 Packard 4 door sedan, eight cylinder, manual transmission. This is an estate purchase that was owned by a former customer of ours. Purported to be a 1950s built movie car that ended up in South Dakota in the late 1970s, (Has a 1979 South Dakota inspection sticker) then appears to have gone to an auto broker in Watertown Minnesota where it was posted in a newspaper clipping and then on to the recent former owner. It is unclear if anyone has come up with what movie this was made for but it was possibly a "B" movie Caped Crusader knock off. The interior of the car is in very nice condition and appears to be original, the dash has its wood grain paint that looks very good.Eight cylinder engine is very clean and has had a recent carb rebuild, It does have several stuck valves so it is not running. It is currently Minnesota titled with the motor number used on the title as opposed to the body serial number. ( it seams as this was sometimes a common mistake) The body has obviously undergone some changes for whatever role it played, mostly to the fenders, quarter panels and trunk lid. changes are subject to taste. This has not been so radically altered that hinders reverting it back to a standard looking old car. replace the front fenders, trunk lid, and the original quarters are still under their finned metalwork. The rest of this car is very solid. this is located in central Minnesota and can be seen at French Lake Auto parts. We buy Estates, collections and the contents of other yards.
