This 1948 Packard Super Eight Convertible Victoria is a nice solid original California car that has recently emerged from hibernation. The story told to me about the car is that it was sold new to the owner of a shoe store in Riverside California that had a house up on the hill overlooking the city. He drove the car as his daily and parked it proudly at the store. The tale goes that at some point he and his wife had a "disagreement" of sorts that put him in prison and her in the heavens up above. After his release many years later he returned to the house and spent his remaining years as a bit of a hermit. The car was sold to a local collector who enjoyed it at local events and meets until about 16 years ago when it again changed hands. The next owner drove it for a while and then decided to do a cosmetic restoration and pulled the car apart and had it painted and the chrome re-done. The car never came back together and about a year ago I pulled it out of a storage unit where he had it and the parts stashed. Ive gone through and hung all the chrome back on it and made it look like a car again. I cleaned the fuel tank out and installed a new battery and the car runs smooth and sounds good. It shifts well and the clutch feels fine. I have yet to have done anything with the brakes and I have not yet gotten the hydraulics working for the top and windows, but I am still fiddling with that. The interior is original and is showing its age, probably best to be used as patterns for re-upholstery. There are a couple chrome parts that need repair and plating and it appears to be missing the garnish molding for the inside of the front window. The trunk is full of new and spare parts for the car including a lot of brand new rubber seals and such. The car needs "finishing" and I have realized that I am not going to be the guy that "finishes" it. Ive had fun putting it back together and getting it running again, but now it is time for new hands to take it from here. Its a nice car and has great potential. Happy to answer any and all questions about the car, so please "ask the seller a question" and I will reply and post the response public so everybody can learn about the car. It is available for personal inspection and it is stored in my garage in Aguanga California (which is near Temecula...just north of the San Diego County border. I put it up at 20k with the ability to make an offer...please do so. It is time for it to go.
