1974 PLYMOUTH ROADRUNNER
MATCHING NUMBERS
VIN# RM21G4G268425
Up for auction with reserve is a well documented UNRESTORED ORIGINAL three owner 1974 PLYMOUTH ROADRUNNER. This is a wonderful specimen of a very rare unmolested TIME CAPSULE MOPAR. Being just 1 of 212 total, 18 CID / HURST / Pistol-Grip / 4-Speed's produced in that model year with this configuration, nd one of one Special Order. Brought up to New England from Virginia in the spring of 2013 after being purchased from the original owner. This fine automobile was originally ordered back in 1974 from TED CURRY MOTORS, NC., Plymouth dealer in Petersburg Virginia. It spent the next 39 years in Boykins Virginia with the original owner. This Road runner was a special order, tripe delete with the vinyl top, true gentleman's Mopar muscle car.
This unmolested beauty has all the original documents, rom the original window sticker and bill of sale, ven the original owners first registration, irginia Title (copy) & VA Antique license plate, tc. the list goes on. From the fender tag to the build sheet, ou name it and I most likely have it. At the time of original purchase minor modifications were done at the Plymouth dealership before leaving the lot, ir conditioning, nd wheel opening moldings were added.
This Special Order stripe delete Plymouth Road runner has the original EW1 Spinnaker White paint which holds an excellent shine. Sporting the J54 Power-Bulge Hood, nd all of the original rust free body panels, ith the exception of one small rust spot at the base of the front drivers side fender, ery minor at that. That is the only area of corrosion on the whole car. All panels have excellent fit, aps and alignment. The car is solid top to bottom, he frame rails, loors, nd trunk pan are all rust free and rock solid original. The light gold vinyl top was replaced in 2007 and done right with a factory style fit and is in excellent condition. All the stainless trim, oldings, nd chrome are in very good condition. The fourteen inch Argent painted Rally Wheels with chrome hubs are in great shape, ith new later period radial white letter tires. The undercarriage of the car is solid and rust free. All of the glass is clear and blemish free. The trunk has the original jack and tools, pare tire and original trunk mat. The car shows and presents itself well and gets a lot of compliments and turns many heads every time it leaves my garage.
The original light gold bucket seat interior is in excellent shape, rom the headliner to the dash and rear deck, ll are near perfect. The original carpet is extra clean and not showing much of any ware, ith minimal fading it is in overall great original condition. The door panels and rear side panels are all original and in excellent like new condition. The seats front and rear are in fabulous original condition, lthough there is a small puncture on the front passenger bucket seat, hich is barely noticeable. The center console is completely in tact and extra clean with no fading or cracks, he compartment door opens and closes as it should. The Hurst Pistol-Grip four speed shifter is clean and in near perfect condition. The Rallye Gauge Instrument Cluster is super clean and blemish free, ll of the lenses are clear, nd the instruments functioning properly and are very clean. The original factory wood grain steering wheel is well preserved and in excellent condition. The odometer currently reads 44,207 original documented miles and climbing as I continue to enjoy the pleasurable ride. This is a non smokers car,the interior smells like a new car, o musty old car oder that you tend to find in older cars. To the best of my knowledge every switch, nob and lever operates correctly. All lights, irectionals, peedometer, as, emperature, nd amp gauges, eep-Beep Horn, ipers, ir conditioning, eater and defrost are functioning properly. The original AM radio operates as new, he station selector panel and preset push buttons all work as they should.
The original numbers matching drivetrain has never been apart or modified in any way. Mechanically the 318 motor purrs like a kitten, ou can barely hear it run. There is a newer low-restriction dual exhaust system with factory chrome Machine Gun exhaust tips, hat growls like a beast! The HURST Heavy-Duty, our-Speed Manual Transmission shifts smoothly through the gears with ease and is paired up with a Sure-Grip 8 & 1/4 rear with a 3.21 ratio. The car starts, uns and drives perfectly, ith the Heavy-Duty suspension, ront and rear sway bars, t feels very firm and solid without any squeaks or rattles and goes down the road like it did back in 1974. The car has no leaks and does not leave drops of fluid or stains on the floor below. Very dependable and enjoyable, nd an absolute pleasure to drive, imply turn the key and go. I would not hesitate to drive this car across country. This car has been very well maintained, ith a recent coolant flush, ynthetic oil change, lutch adjustment kit and spring, ew filters etc. I have confidence in its absolute excellent reliability and driveability. I have a free and clear New Hampshire Title in my possession.
