Description of 1970 Plymouth Barracuda |
I am pleased to offer this well-documented, uper rare 1970 Plymouth 'Cuda. It is believed to be one of three '70 V-code 440 'Cudas built in TX9 black with white interior. This is also a factory Super Track Pak car with the Dana 60 4.10 ratio Sure-Grip rear and Hurst pistol grip 4 speed trans. The car was restored in 2008 and used very sparingly since. Total original mileage on the car is only 43,355 miles. Incredible and rare Mopar here, olks. Fewer than 1,000 four speed 440 six barrel Cudas were made in 1970. Now, onsider how few of those were also Super Track Pak, haker cars in black. Good luck finding another! As you can see from the (very recent) video below, his beauty performs like a 440-6 Barrel should, ven though I was babying it. Forget the Hemi hype, he 440-6 is the king of Mopar street engines. Fast, eliable, asy to tune, asy to live with, nd cheaper to fix, he six barrel delivers on the street.Major original features/options:- November 5, 969 build- Numbers-matching drivetrain- E87 V-code 440 3-2 BBL 390hp motor- A34 Super Track Pak (Dana 60 4.10 rear, D suspension, emi 4-speed with Hurst pistol grip shifter)- D21 A833 4-Speed- N96 Shaker hood in argent silver- TX9 Black Velvet exterior- XW white and black interior, high" grade trim- C55 bucket seats- S15 Hemi front suspension- N51 Max Cooling HD cooling system- R22 AM radio with 8-track player (hookup still in place, ut 8-track unit missing)- J45 Hood pins- B41/B51 Power front disks- N41/N42 dual exhaust system with chrome tips- S81 three spoke woodgrain steering wheel (currently a working S83 Rim Blow wheel)- STD dash (currently Rallye dash)- STD 14x6 steel wheels with Plymouth lug covers (currently 15" diameter wheels)- Original seat belts Documentation:- Purchased in early-2009 from owner of 36 years- Govier documented- Original Broadcast sheet- Original trim tag- Original headliner tag- Original door end decal Because it is an early build car (November 1969), his Cuda has the factory-installed, delbrock-made aluminum intake manifold (later cars had cast iron intakes). The car runs beautifully with great oil pressure, o overheating, reat shifting, o strange noises, tc. The clutch is stiff, ut then again, his is a brute of a car!As per the fender tag and the long term owner's description, his was a street sweeper/sleeper when he first laid eyes on it in 1973/4 at a local Maryland airport: 440 six barrel, haker hood, emi 4 speed, ana 60 rear...no center console, olling on factory steel road wheels, o trunk spoiler, nd with standard (no tach) dash. When I purchased it in 2009, rom him (after restoration), t was running factory rally wheels with BFGs. I recently installed a set of optional 15" steel road wheels (originally optioned with 14" versions) and original type (but new) Goodyear Polyglas GT bias ply tires. The prior long term owner made it his own over the years: he swapped the standard (no tach) dash for a rallye (tach) dash, dded the center console (easily removed), lastomeric front bumper and a factory trunk spoiler. The factory-optioned 8-track player is not there (but the hookup is). The electronic tach worked when I purchased the car but has since stopped working. Radio and road lamps do not currently work. Theattached photos attest to the condition of this car, ut please ask for any additional detail photos you may need. The MoPerformance Magazine cover photo from 1984 is of this car and was provided by the previous long term owner. Most of my auctions end early due to a change of heart on my part, r someone having reached out to me with a reasonable offer that saves both of us the time and hassle of waiting for the auction to run its course. So, f you are in the market for a Cuda 440-6/Shaker/4-spd/Super Track Pak car in a sinister color with great documentation and few owners, suggest you bid early and often, nd/or contact me directly with your best offer. Also, each out to me for any additional information or photos you may need. Although I would prefer an all cash deal at a fair price, will considerwhole or partial trades (e.g. '63 Corvette split window, 67 Corvette 3x2, 67 Shelby GT350/500, 68-'70Chevelle SS, 70 Z/28 or SS396 Camaro, WD '70-'72 Chevy/GMC Blazer/Jimmy, 68-'69 Corvette 3x2 convertible) Terms and Conditions:This Cuda is sold on a clean, igned over title. No warranty is expressed or implied. Your bid is a commitment to buy, ot an option to buy, o please ask and and all questions before bidding. I encourage would-be bidders/owners to inspect the car themselves if at all possible. It is available for inspection in the Brewster, Y 10509 area. I have tried to describe the car as best I can, ut I cannot be held responsible for every stone chip or small scratch; again, ee the car for yourself if possible From speaking with the previous long term owner, believe this is a no hit car. This car is completely drivable within reasonable distances (if you can handle the 4.10 rear gear ratio), ut I will also meet with the shipper of your choice to help with transportation. I reserve the right to end this auction at any time and for any reason. Check my feedback and bid with confidence. Good luck! |
