Description of 1940 Plymouth Other Deluxe Convertible |
Okay, admit it, e officially have a problem. We're suckers for a great body on an old car, specially one that has been largely unaltered from day one. Couple that with a motorcar that's over 70 years old and still wears the original sheet metal from the factory, e're putty in the seller's hand. While we will always be guys who seek out great muscle and performance cars, e certainly won't rule out something completely different. That said, n our quest to unearth some very nice cars, e have this nearly unobtainable 1940 Plymouth Deluxe Convertible Coupe. The body is simply stunning, ear perfect and incredibly straight. That statement goes further and without question applies to the floors, hassis and trunk. This 1940 Plymouth displays one of the best original bodies ever seen on any old car, o matter what age, ake or model. This Plymouth is truly a work of early automotive art. Consider this, arrett-Jackson has never sold one, either has Mecum. The only one I could find was last sold by RM Auctions for the tidy sum of $55,000. We also scoured all the databases I have the privilege of acquiring access to, till, ot another one to be found. Searching for others for sale in the open market, e've only been able to locate two examples and each was for sale at $49,000. While records show just under 6500 produced, t is obvious that very few have survived the test of time. Of the few we did find for sale, ost were wretched projects with very little left of the original car. This car is certainly an exception to our research and remains fully intact and included all of the original parts to finish this piece of American automotive history. She's a work of art and better yet, mmensely original, nd runs and drives exceptionally well. Hagerty value on car : Low Retail---- $22,600.00 Average Retail ---- $ 32,400.00 High Retail---- $48,800.00 I would place this car between average and High retail due to the restoration performed // Over $30,000 put into car
