Description of 1948 Plymouth Other |
1948 Plymouth DeLuxe Club Coupe with 1957 230 cubic inch flat head six cylinder and 1953 Borg Warner R10 Overdrive Transmission. The engine was a new rebuild when I purchased it from a car that was being hotrodded with a V8. It was bored .030. I have added an Offenhauser aluminum dual carb intake with Carter Weber two barrel carbs and spun aluminum air cleaners. Edgy Speed Shop finned aluminum cylinder head and finned aluminum valve covers. Fenton repop cast iron headers. Langdon's HEI Distributor. Installed new brass water distribution tube and expansion plugs. Last two photos are of the engine when first installed four years ago. Has maybe 10,000 miles on it since installed. Has been rewired with EZ-Wire harness/fuse block with multiple open circuits. Front suspension rebuilt and front Disc Brakes added. Runs great and with the overdrive transmission will cruise at 70 with no problem. Have made 4 750 plus mile round trips with zero issues. Body is in pretty good condition for a nearly 80 year old car. There is some rust in the floors and rockers that would need to be addressed at some point. The previous owner fiber glassed over areas of the floor and it has held up so far. There is a small rust spot on the lower trunk lid. There is a small crack in the lip of the right front fender about 3/4 of an inch long. The interior is usable as is but would likely need to be redone at some point. Gauges work with the exception of the gas gauge and temp gauge. I have added a temp gauge under the dash. Have a new aluminum radiator that has not been installed yet that will go with the car. Current radiator has worked fine even here in Dallas, TX area in 100 plus temperatures, just bought the new radiator as "insurance". Will work with your shipper but purchaser is responsible for all shipping arrangements or can be picked up in person. Car is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end this auction early if car sells. |
