Description of 1971 Plymouth Barracuda Barracuda

1971 Plymouth Barracuda – Easy Project

This 1971 Plymouth Barracuda is the last of the estate vehicles that we’ve been selling off over the past year. This was a very special car to its former owner and he was sparing no expense into making it his dream car. All of the hard work is done. The body is incredibly straight and rust free. The engine and transmission have been rebuilt. Most of the key parts needed for completion are here. This car was bought in 2005 for $22,000.

The body as you can see in the pictures is exceptionally straight. It is 100% metal. The body work was done, the car was acid dipped and then primered. There are a couple of checks for body work totaling over $7,500, but there’s way more into it than that. Also, all of the parts shown in the picture come with the car.

The engine and transmission match one another, but do not match the car. They are out of a RoadRunner that we sold this past fall for this estate. The engine is rebuilt and so is the transmission, both have 0 miles on them. The 383 was fully machined, balanced and blue printed. The compression ratio is 10:1. It has a Lunati Hydraulic VooDoo Cam, Edelbrock Performer RPM heads, matching Edelbrock Performer Intake manifold, front pulley system with serpentine belt by March, aluminum water pump housing, and a MSD Pro-billet distributor. The mechanic you rebuilt it estimates the engine at approximately 400HP. The Chrysler heavy duty 4-speed transmission is also rebuilt with new bearings and synchros. If you know these cars you know what the engine and transmission are worth.

The rear end is a Dana 60. There is no documentation on the gearing but it’s believed to be low given the extended wheel bolts.

This car is ready to become your dream car. This is a no reserve auction, the highest bidder will own this car when the auction is completed. That said, make sure you have whatever permission you need to have before you bid. Oddly, that’s sometimes more important than money to pay for it. The vehicle is for sale locally and we reserve the right to end the auction early.

The auction description pretty much tells you everything we can tell you about the car, but if you have questions, please feel free to call, Tom at 619-807-8770 or John at 858-212-5396.
