Description of 1985 Plymouth Fury Gran Fury |
I'm listing this car for my 74 year old neighbor. Although the paint is severely faded, there is absolutely no rust on any of the body panels and there is also no major dents or dings. The car has been sitting for many years and needs cleaned up but we threw a new battery and gas in it and it fired right up. He parked it when he began having problems with the "Electronic lean-burn system" Chrysler put on these cars. It has plenty of power when in park or neutral but the power is lost when shifted into gear. This "lean-burn" system includes a bunch of sensors and a spark control computer which constantly changes spark timing and the system is no longer functioning properly on this car. The transmission does seem fine but the car will only idle forward and back and will not accelerate (due to spark timing) when pushing on the gas pedal. I did a little research and found that the car can be converted to a conventional ignition and carburetor system pretty easily but please research it yourself before bidding. Other issues that I could identify were the two front power windows aren't functioning properly. The window motors sound as if they are working but the glass wants to fall out of the track on both. I can provide additional photos if requested and will be glad to ask the old man any questions you may have. The car is being sold "AS-IS" "WHERE-IS" with no warranty and no reserve. A non-refundable deposit of $400 (or total final sale price if less than $400) will be required of the winning bidder so please ask any questions you may have prior to bidding. Thanks and good luck! |
