I've looked at every 71 and 72 Road Runner and Satellite on eBay and Craigslist in the USA and I honestly believe this one has the best combination of condition and price for anyone who wants a daily driver--not a full-on project and not a resto car. This '71 Road Runner 383/auto is in the kind of condition that we old guys used to buy them in from the original owners back in the '80s in California. The story with this one is that the original owner died and left the car to his son, and then it sat from the early '90s until late 2016 when I bought it. It has less than 97,000 original miles! BODY: Has one repaint from the '80s in the original Hemi Orange color. It's very straight with a number of small dings and scratches. The photos show every spec of rust that I have found in the car, and it looks worse in photos than it seems in person. The trunk floor has stains but no rot. There's no need for any full-panel replacement anywhere on the body. The car formerly had a canopy vinyl top. I installed the strobe stripe, as it was not put back on the car when it was repainted. The RR decal on the deck lid was installed in the wrong place after the repaint. You can see on the rear bumper that the car has the original blackout treatment, but the decals were painted over on the valance panel. The original, factory-option hood pins are still in place. INTERIOR: It's an original bench-seat, column-auto car. The instruments are in good shape but the dash pad is cracked. The seats have new Legendary covers in the correct black and silver with the original metal badges. The carpet is original with some tears, but the car comes with new carpet in the box. The original package tray is junk, but the car comes with a new one. There is no headliner. All the interior lights work. This is an original Tuff Wheel car; the wheel has a cover on it, and I can feel that the original foam is not in good shape. ENGINE: The original 383 is stock with the exception of a vintage DP4B intake and a new Holley 750 vacuum secondary carb, and an Accel yellow coil. The engine is tuned perfectly and runs quiet and smooth. TRANSMISSION: 727 Torqueflite with column shift works perfectly. Has a small leak at the pan. REAREND: The 8-3/4 rear has a new 2.76 gears and a new Auburn limited slip. BRAKES AND SUSPENSION: The car has its original 11-inch drums that perform perfectly with no power assist. The suspension tracks straight and quiet. It has all four new QA1 megabuck double-adjustable shocks. The power steering works perfectly. WHEELS AND TIRES: The new Cooper 275/60 and 245/60 tires are on US Mags slots in sizes 15x8 and 15x9. There are about 2,000 miles on the tires.EXTRA PARTS: The car comes with new carpet, a new package tray, a new washer bottle, and a lightly used cover from California Car Covers.OVERALL IMPRESSIONS: This car runs and drives quiet, smooth, and straight. It has no mechanical problems I know of. Turn the key and drive it anywhere in any weather. My last big drive was Los Angeles to Las Vegas and back at 85 mph the whole way.
