Description of 1970 Plymouth Barracuda |
I am pleased to present this 1970 Plymouth 'Cuda 426 Hemi Coupe. This is a real deal R-Code Hemi 'Cuda with a 727 Torqflite automatic, Super Track Pack Dana 60 with 4.10 gears, and just over 29,000 original miles! It is finished in its rare originally ordered, and highly desired, RPO EV2 Tor-Red color with black vinyl top and black vinyl interior. It is a 3-owner car and has been owned by the prior owner since 1979 and purchased by me in 2014. It's no secret that Hemi 'Cuda's are incredibly rare and below is a quick break-down of the production numbers relating to 1970 Hardtop 'Cuda's:
All original sheet metal. Had first repaint in 2015 done by Stripmasters in Milton, FL. Below are some highlights from Wise report: VIN tag The VIN tag is original Trim tag The trim tag appears to be original Manufacturers Certificate Label The manufacturers certificate label on the driver’s door is original Primary body VIN The upper radiator core support has the last 8 characters of the VIN stamp on it, in the typical location where it is found on E bodies. Secondary body VIN The cowl has the last 8 characters of the VIN stamped on it, in the typical location where it is found on all E bodies. Interior Very original. Original headliner, dash, instrument panel, under dash, carper, seats, sill plates, console, seat belts etc… The rear seat belts are still in the protective wrapper under the rear seat. Glass All glass is original to the car. The front windshield has a crack in it on the passenger’s side. (has been replaced with a date coded windshield since report) Trunk Very original. The following items are all original in the trunk: trunk mat, jack, jack instructions, pain, floor pan, body plugs, seal sealer, latch, catch and wire harness Body The grille, bumpers, tail lights, fenders, doors, decklid, dutchman panel, A pillar, B pillar, rocker panels, shaker hood and deck lid are original. Exterior panel fit, gaps and alignment are very good. The exterior trim plating and/or finishes are in fair to good condition. The trim is original OEM Mopar. The exterior presents itself well overall for a semi-survivor. The paint is outstanding. The condition of the paint job is 9 out of 10. Frame reinforcements The front frame supplemental supports (torque boxes) are in place. The rear supplemental supports (torque boxes and plates) are in place. The pinion snubber contact plate has the secondary reinforcement plate in place. Floor pans Good condition. The front, center and rear floor pans. Rocker, A and B pillar Good condition. The RH and LH front and rear frame rails, torsion bar mount, rear beam, A / B pillar and rear shock absorber mounting bracket are in good condition. The rocker moldings are original. Chassis/ Frame Good condition. The RH and LH front and rear frame rails are in good condition. At some point the bottom side of the car was cleaned up and semi-restored. . Rear suspension Good condition. Some original parts are still in place. The leaf springs are original and correct for the car. Front suspension Good condition. Some original parts are still in place. LCA: RH and LH are original. Tires: Aftermarket correct Goodyear Polyglas Axle The axle is a Dana 60 series assembly. It appears to be original to the car. If the build date is correct on the axle of 10/20/1969 and it is original to the car then the car most likely was built after its scheduled build date of 10/13/1969. Driveshaft The driveshaft is correct and appears to be the original one for the car. The part number and build date could not be seen. Transmission The transmission does not have the correct VIN stamped on it for this vehicle. The part # 3515846 is for a 1971 383 V8 engine Engine The engine does not have the correct VIN stamped on it for this vehicle. The original carburetors were not on the car but will be supplied by the owner of the car to the buyer. The shaker bubble appears to be original. However, there were no tools available to remove it from the engine. This very 'Cuda was featured in Hagerty Magazine as a cover car for a muscle car write-up by famed car collector Ken Lingenfelter and a copy of the magazine is included. Also included is numerous pieces of documentation such as: the original trader ad when the car was bought in '79, the original broadcast sheet, the original Carter carburetors, a written list of the RPO options, the original owner's manual and supplemental literature, a calendar of the Hagerty photo shoot, and a picture binder documenting the 35 year ownership history with the previous owner.
