Description of 1962 Plymouth Belvedere |
|
Where were you in 62'? This 1962 Plymouth Belvedere will transport you back to the days of the Beach Boys and the Little Old Lady from Pasadena. Having spent its entire life in warm dry Reno Nevada and Reseda Californi, it is in amazing completely rust free condition. It is still on the California title and carries its California "Blue Platesâ€! All original sheet metal, including floors and trunk. The previous owner cherished this car for many years and treated it to a cosmetic and mechanical restoration a few years back. The original rust free body is exceptionally straight and was refinished in snow white acrylic urethane. Very smooth and gloss, including all jambs and under hood and trunk lid. All new weather stripping and rubber door hood and trunk bumpers. All glass is crystal clear. Windshield and rubber gasket appear new. All stainless trim is exceptional. Exterior door handles are new. Tail lamp housings and trunk chrome emblem trim have a few pits. Tail and back up lenses are new. Front bumper is a mirror fresh re-chrome. Rear bumper is excellent with a few minor blemishe, but straight and very shiny. Doors hood and trunk open and close smooth and tight. It rides on period correct chrome reverse rims with "Baby Moonsâ€. Wrapped in "Kelly Charger" radials. I also have all four original full wheel covers in excellent condition. The interior was refreshed as well . New carpet. Seats and door panels re-upholstered in period correct material. Matching front seat belts have been added. I also have a new full set of rear seat belts not installed, that go with the car. Padded dash is excellent. The headliner is very nice with a few small flaws.Steering wheel has a couple of cracks. EVERYTHING works on this car! All gauges, lamps, signals, heater. Even the original AM radio plays beautifully! Doors lock and unlock as they should. Get in this beauty and step back in time. YE, I know it is a four door. That means twice the fun for about a third of the price! Load up the family and go to cruise nights. You will not believe the attention this car gets everywhere it goes. Pull into a classic car event with this and everyone forgets about the Camaros and Mustangs! Mechanically it is amazing. the legendary "built withâ€318 "Polysphere" semi-Hemi V-8. Backed by a 727 "push-button" Torque-Flite transmission. This car runs like a swiss watch. I was told that the drive train was rebuil, but I have no proof, receipts etc. I have been a classic car enthusiast /collector /restorer for over 45 years. I can tell you that this is one of the nicest running classics I have seen in a long time. The engine was updated with a Holley 600 cfm 4 barrel carb with electric choke and a Pertronix electronic ignition conversion. It starts instantly and runs smooth and powerful. The oil pressure gauge reads 50-60 psi hot. It also has dual exhaust with "glass packs" with a nice mellow tone rounded out with chrome tips.. The transmission shifts smooth and positive. All fluids look clean and fresh. There are new shocks all around. The steering is manual but very easy. It has power brakes that stop on a dime! The emergency brake works as it should. Battery, alternator and starter appear newer. A comprehensive shop manual is also included. Make no mistake, this is NOT a "barn find" or a "projectâ€. This is a beautiful classic that you can get in and enjoy as it is! The previous owner shipped it to upstae N.Y. in 2015 and put in dry storage. He has family here and was going to relocate from California. He and his wife took a trip to Ireland and fell in love with the countryside, bought a farm and moved there instead! Never registered or titled in N.Y. If you are a Mopar fan or just an old car enthusiast you will love this Plymouth. It really has a personality. Everyone who sees it falls in love with it. A true original classic with some subtle period correct touches. A joy to drive. And the best part, you will not have to mortgage your future to own it! I have set a VERY modest reserve for a classic in this condition. A real opportunity to join the classic car hobby. Don't miss out! Remembe, this beauty is 57 years old!
