Description of 1969 Plymouth Road Runner 440 Six Pack |
Vintage Mopars don't come any more well-put together than this one! This 1969 Plymouth Road Runner 440 Six Pack is the result of an outstanding restoration, with some inspired customization blended into the mix. Its world class aesthetics are paired with a super-strong drivetrain, anchored by one of the true signature big block engines of the era. The exterior on this Road Runner exudes curb appeal you'll pick up on while it's still a distance away. Its striking red paint is undeniably show quality, pairing a great color with a strong clearcoat to create a memorable shine and a closer inspection will reveal that there are no visible flaws. An added hood scoop teams with a set of stunning aftermarket wheels and a slightly lowered stance to create just the right customized sensibility while leaving this classic muscle car's identity thoroughly intact. It's a generously sized muscle car: long and angular with a spacious cabin and its body lines are very much on point. Take a closer look and you can appreciate just how uniform those gaps surrounding the hood, doors and deck lid are. The Plymouths of this era didn't feature a lot of chrome, which really allows the paint to take center stage, but what's on display is in uniformly great shape. Climb inside and you'll be surrounded by an interior that's been well maintained since its thorough refurbishment and still retains a largely factory appearance. Both the broad front buckets and rear bench seat wear black vinyl covers that look fresh and the substantial amount of real estate separating the rows of seating is a nice by-product of the Road Runner's dimensions - in a car this exciting, you'll have no shortage of eager passengers and when they climb in back, they'll be plenty comfortable. There's clean black carpet lining the floor and the door panels to each side are at their best. The dash area is yet another strong feature - its set of factory gauges are clear as can be and are joined by both an aftermarket tach on the steering column and a trio of gauges just below to keep tabs on operating temperatures, oil pressure and voltage. Just above, the dash pad is free of any cracks and is in excellent condition. Everything is tidy inside the trunk area - its inner fenders and wheelhouses are in clear view, so you can see how solid they are. The engine compartment standing by below the hood of this Plymouth has to be seen to be fully appreciated and a 440 cubic inch V8, without a doubt the big block most closely associated with vintage Mopars, takes the place of the original at its center. The iconic engine is fed by Demon Six Pack configuration -a row of 2-barrel carbs working in concert together to provide maximum fuel nutrition underneath a spotless oblong air cleaner. A sizable aluminum radiator pairs with a duo of electric fans to keep operating temperatures under control as the powerplant teams with a 4-speed manual transmission to provide just the sort of inspired "hands on" driving experience a classic muscle car like this warrants. A tap on the accelerator sends a nice, deep note out of the dual Flowmaster exhaust and hints at the powerplant's abilities - this is one seriously potent engine. Power brakes at both ends make for easy stops while powering steering makes this vintage Plymouth easy to navigate on its set of 17" Billet Specialties wheels. This 1969 Plymouth Road Runner 440 Six Pack is an outstanding example of its manufacturer's design wizardry during this era and its stellar running condition and ultra-clean condition put it in very select company.
