Description of 1941 Plymouth Other |
I bought this car in 1978 with the idea of totally restoring it. During the next five years. I disassembled the body and all sheet metal. I also removed and stored all interior components (seats. headliner. etc). I sent all interior trim components (Dashboard. glovebox door. window trim. etc) to California to be professionaly restored to their original woodgrained condition. I wirebrushed and painted the frame and rebuilt the engine. The body was in good shape with only a little surface rust and a few small dings which I repaired. primed and painted. The hood. grill and trunk lid were in good condition so I stripped. primed and painted them. The fenders were in much poorer condition. but I was able to find a set of four perfect NOS fenders (they were available back then) in primer that I painted and mounted to the body with chrome fender welting. I also installed a new wiring harness. I then installed the original stainless exterior trim which was in good shape. It has all five of the original wheels with factory striping. In 1984. for personal reasons. I was unable to continue the restoration. so the car sat in my garage for the next 25 years. A few years ago. I decided to try to finish it. I installed a new gas tank. I removed the transmission and had it professionaly rebuilt. I had the master cylinder bored. resleaved and rebuilt and installed four new wheel cylinders and new brake lines. I also installed new pinion and wheel seals in the differential. However. I recently decided that at my age. I probably do not have the time or energy to complete the restoration. so I am selling it. It comes with many spare parts. including: Beautifully woodgrained interior trim components. interior and exterior chrome components. running boards and all the original interior components (front and rear seats. original headliner with bows. door panels. etc). The interior components need to be completely re-apolstered. I can store the car for up to six months. if necessary. If you live reasonably close by. I suggest that you try to see it in person before bidding. Comes with a clear Michigan title. NO RESERVE. Buyer is responsible for vehicle shipping. |
