Superbly executed and show ready! Recently serviced and tuned! Will not disappoint the next lucky owner! Racing has always been the motivating factor in the sports & muscle car arena. Manufacturers have been competing against one another since the inception of the automobile. As time has gone by, racing organizations created, rules formulated, and restrictions implemented to balance competition for racing participants. One of the oldest and most successful of these American racing organizations is NASCAR (National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing) with inception in 1948. By the late-1960's, some of the most prominent of race car legends were in their prime. Names like David Pearson and Richard Petty were household names, and a heated battle between Ford and Dodge had begun. Pearson's Ford Torino Talladega was the spur that ignited Dodge to produce a faster design. They turned to state-of-art aerodynamics and wind tunnel testing as the ultimate solution. It lead to the Dodge Charger Daytona in 1969, and ultimately the further refined Plymouth Superbird in 1970! By this time, NASCAR required certain eligibility requirements to include at least one production example for every two dealerships that existed in the country. This meant at least 1,920 Superbirds had to be produced to qualify for the 1970 racing season. Fitted with a huge rear wing, pointed nose cone with retractable headlights, and rear-facing front fender scoops for reduced wheel well air pressure and aid tire clearance, it made for quite a potent high speed contender! Actual commercial production numbers vary depending on where you look, but the general consensus lists 1,935 as the true number built. Of those, 135 where carry the potent street Hemi, only 716 with the Super Commando 440 Six Pack, and the balance of production cars would house a 440 Super Commando 4-barrel under the hood. Today, these one-year only production examples are among the most favored MOPAR collector statements to own! Offered here is a rotisserie restored 1970 Plymouth Superbird finished in code correct EV2- TorRed over H2X9- Deluxe Black Vinyl bench seat interior with matching Black vinyl top! Under the hood lies a completely number's matching V-code 440ci Super Commando Six Pack and A727 Torqueflite 3-speed automatic transmission with 8¾ Sure Grip rear axle. Options include power steering, power front disc brakes, hood lock-down pins, vacuum powered retractable headlamps, Rallye gauges with Tic-Toc-Tach, 15" Rallye wheels wearing Goodyear Polyglas F60-15 raised white letter tires, Chrysler solid state AM/FM radio, Road Runner Beep-Beep horn, glove box lamp, all original Chrysler window glass, and more! The all number's engine & transmission were both restored to process components and finishes as delivered new, including the Edelbrock intake, proper Holley carburetion, hoses & clamps, plugs wires, starter, decals, and other various MOPAR specific appointments. It is showing just 41,866 chassis miles from new and represents one of the finest in existence! The presentation inside and out matches the high degree of attention also given to the undercarriage and chassis components. Even the finishes in the trunk are perfect to house the original spare, jack, and trunk mat! With nothing left untouched, it really makes a strong statement to the attention it received to bring to this level of showmanship! It has been recently serviced to ensure it's running at optimum performance, including a full brake inspection and adjustment! One would be hard pressed to find a better example currently on the market! Please feel free to call to schedule a viewing appointment or to present an offer.
