1974 Pontiac Firebird 455 Trans Am1 of only 4648 Made This auction is for an original 1974 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am 455 of which only 4648 were ever made. In it's original and only color of buccaneer red, his bird has only 69,050 miles (actual) anddocumented with original purchase paperwork, ll service records and true accurate odometer miles as listed on the cars current Florida title. The engine, ransmission are numbers matching and mostof this T/A's components are all original. Recent extensive body restoration makes this the perfect find for the weekend car show or true collector. In 1974 an exciting era of American auto performance began its decline. Manufacturers addressing the fuel crunch, he switch to unleaded gasoline, atalytic converters, ederal mandates and low compression engines forced these muscle car beasts to become a thing of the past. This bird was the last to have the true dual exhaust. The 74 T/A continued the breed with it's trunk-lid spoiler, heel-well flares, ront fender air extractors, ual outside racing-style mirrors, ally II wheels with raised white lettering, ual exhausts with chrome extensions, haker hood scoop and the signature "screaming chicken"decal on the hood. Besides the updated, estyled front shovel-nose grill and rear lamps (horizontal slots), he 1974 Trans Am was every bit the same as the 70-73 models. This T/A's 455 engine included overhead valves, ast iron block, isplacement 455 cid. Bore & stroke: 4.15 x 4.21 in. Compression ratio: 8.0.1. Brake horsepower:250 at 4000 rpm. Torque: 380 ft lbs. at 2800 rpm. Five main bearings. Hydraulic valve lifters. Carburetor:foul-barrel. True dual exhausts. In 1974 Motor Trend nominated the Firebird Trans Am for it's "Car of the Year"award. In addition, he magazine described it as the "best combination available of pure performance and handling in the US Grand Touring market" . This Vehicle's Highlights:
This Buccaneer Red Trans Am comes with the following:
The cars body was stripped to bare metal and refinished in it's original buccaneer red paint followed by 6 coats of clear coating. It was then blocked and buffed to a true show finish. The original style graphics were then applied to give this low mileage vintage muscle car a better than factory showroom appearance. New tires were added to the original refinished rims and then highlighted with new trim rings. No expense was spared with this restoration work performed by a professional paint and body restoration shop in Winter Park, lorida. The interior is still all original and looks every bit as good as the pictures indicate. The only change made was to add a retro/radio to the dash. This sound system with CD changer carries great sound complimented by the 4 (front is a dual mode center Mount) new speakers inside the car. It also has a USB port. Everything is working but the clock in the rally gauges (but it does keep accurate time twice a day). Engine and transmission are running strong. Dual exhaust is not too loud, ut you know when this bird is flying by. No smoke, tarts up great. Newer retro battery installed in 2014. This car has been serviced and checked by a local professional seasoned mechanic and has no known problems or issues. The under carriage/chassis is un-restored and still has themarkings from the under-coating that the original owner had done back in the 70' and 80's. Included with this classic Trans Am is a 3 ring binder of all the 41 years of paperwork from servicing to scheduled maintenance. I have personally spoken to the original owner from7-20-1974.
