Be sure to visit our friends at the Flight Museum if you find yourself in Dallas, exas. This Trans Am was ordered in beautiful Martinique Blue, one-year-only color for 1978. This car displays exceptional paint and body throughout. Under the hood is the optional 403 cubic inch V8. This powerplant was chosen in lieu of the standard 400 cube V8 in smog-laden California along with high-altitude areas. The Olds-based 403 engine carried the same bore and stroke as the 400. It is rated at 185 horsepower, hile torque is at 320 ft-lbs. The factory smog equipment is intact along with air conditioning and power steering. This is a strong running engine and is paired with the factory TH350 3-speed automatic transmission. The factory trim identification plate is also in place. This is a Martinique Blue Trans Am ordered with light blue vinyl bucket seating and powered by the 403 cubic inch V8. Open the doors to 1978. Although the Trans Am design was basically a carry-over from 1977, here were several handling improvements made along with some asthetic changes. The blue vinyl upholstery shows well left and right. We believe this is the original upholstery in this collector quality T/A. The driver's seat has a seam separation, hown above. The dash is clean and detailed as is the center console. This Trans Am is optioned with power windows and an AM/FM Delco stereo. Standard Trans Am equipment for 1978 would include Rally Gauges / Power Front Disc Brakes / Vinyl Bucket Seating / Formula Steering Wheel / Rear Air Spoiler / Cigarette Lighter / Shaker Hood / Tachometer / Front Air Dam / Space Saver Spare, tc. The steering column is tilt-operated. The Rally Gauges are complete with the factory tach & clock along with the distinctive machine-turned backing. 1978 was a noted year for handling and Pontiac was at the forefront. The cigarette lighter was a standard Trans Am accompaniment while the AM/FM Delco stereo was optional. The center console is clean and detailed. The power windows are functional. The door panels appear to be original and in very good condition, nly minor discoloration, rimarily on the arm rests. The door undersides are solid. The bucket seat backs are in good condition left and right. The back seat upholstery shows well. The original VIN plate is in place, ntact and clear. This is a hardtop coupe T/A, otice the attractive pinstripes running the length of the roof. The dual tip chromed exhaust tips are another distinctive Trans Am feature, e sure to play our video of this T/A in action. The original door decal is in place. The doors, ood, nd trunk lid open and close correctly. The paint has an excellent shine. Also note the center body moulding running the length of the car. The door undersides / weep holes are intact and in good condition. The side glass shows well left and right. This is the factory soft-ray tinted glass The trunk is in great shape. The factory space-saver spare tire/wheel & jacking equipment is in place. You can see much of the original red oxide primer throughout the inner quarters and underneath the sail panel. The undercarriage is in excellent condition. This is a dry climate car and it shows. The original flooring is intact front to back. The frame and suspension show well as does the engine, ransmission and differential. Much of the original red oxide flooring is intact as well.
