Description of 1964 Pontiac GTO

Its been called "THE GREAT ONE", GOAT", span>"FATHER OF ALL MUSCLECARS"and had songs written about it. It is arguably the most well known model of the muscle car genre and has been one of the most highly sought after collector cars in the market throughout the musclecar explosion of the nineties and even up to this day.

There were only 8245 tri-power GTOs built in '64. There is no record that I am aware of that breaks the numbers down further but suffice to say Starlight black with red interior 4 speeds that still have their complete, orn with 76X 348hp 389 engines are few and far between and arguably the most desirable in the black with red combo. Transmission appears to be the original W code M-20 wide ratio but I don't know how to tell for sure. Original shifter, rive shaft and 10 bolt 3:23 saf-T-track rear end too! All glass is good and I have a new windshield. It looks like someone was gonna add power steering (all brackets are on engine) but PHS says its a manual steering with drum brakes all around car. This car still wears most of its original paint! The floor pans had rust holes in the front and under rear seat so they have been professionally replaced with the one piece full floor for a clean, eld seam free installation. The trunk had similar rust problems so it too was professionally replaced. The frame, ood, oof, ear quarters, endersand doors are in very good shape. The pass side rear qtr has had some previous body work but it appears minimal. I don't think the car has ever been in an accident. The trunk lid is rust free. (notorious for rusting out and impossible to find) The only significant rust left to address is a small place at the bottom of each fender with drivers side being the worst. Of course the car needs a full restoration but the hard part is done and no need to go looking for alotta hard to find parts. Almost everything is accounted for except for radiator and it would probably not have been useable anyway. I am also short the heater box as well. The one that was in it was junk. I have full PHS on the car as well. I pulled the valve covers and spark plugs on eng to inspect and squirt some oil into cylinders to keep them lubed. The tops of heads are clean (with all valve train still intact) and the motor spins over good. I stuffed rags into each exhaust port to keep the moisture out.

Engine Casting Numbers and Date Codes are as follows:

Rear of engine on top behind intake near distributor - Casting 9773155 Date D 8 4

Front of engine below passenger side head - 76 XW 410254

Left Head - Casting GM 3770716 1 Date C 27 4

Right Head - Casting GM 3770716 1 Date D 1 4

Intake - 9775088 Date D 3 4

I have too many projects in front of this car right now so I have decided to sell it in lieu of completing it. This is not a firesale nor desperation liquidation so abandon any dreams of getting it "cheap" . It IS for sale at a fair market value not some pie in the sky fantasy number.
