Description of 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am

This is the car you always dreamed a 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am could be. There's a huge upgrade under the hood to make this coupe finally perform as good as it looks. The second generation Trans Am was a seriously intimidating package. The wide ground effects in front of the wheel wells, ntegrated rear spoiler, nd shaker hood, ives this a real presence on the streets. When the dent-resistant Endura front end is as complete as this one, t's not only a dead giveaway to some serious care and investment, ut also it gives the Firebird Trans Am an aggressive beak that perfectly complements the famous "screaming chicken" on the hood and b-pillars. It only gets better as this whole car looks like it's breathing fire thanks to the blazing paintwork. It's the kind of bright red that helps grab attention away from the black Smokey and the Bandit replicas. In fact, his one reminds us a bit of another famous Burt Reynolds Pontiac. Remember the red Trans Am with chrome wheels from the movie Hooper? Yes, his one certainly looks the part from that speed demon stuntman flick. Just as that Pontiac was a famous for its surprise rocket power, his one also has hidden horsepower...but more on that in a minute. The fiery red attitude continues on the interior with the high-back vinyl bucket seats, oor panels, arpeting, nd center console all coordinating with this aggressive tone. But this is far from a sea of crimson. The there are bright touches all around including the door handles, indow cranks, nd the three-spoke steering wheel. Of course the most famous shining piece is the iconic machined aluminum inlay that covers the whole dash panel. There are modern components, oo, ncluding an AM/FM/CD player and all the gauges have been upgraded to Marshall units with a digital odometer. We've hinted at something wicked in the engine bay, ut all you have to do is pop the hood to see that this one can barely contain all of its power upgrades. The top motor that came in the Trans Am in 1977 was an emissions-choked 400 cubic-inch V8. So that engine has been ditched recently in favor of a larger 455 block, rom an era when muscle cars still had real muscle. This whole setup was rebuilt 1,500 miles ago to include a durable nodular iron crank and newly machined heads (2.11 x 4.980 intake and 1.77 x 5.230 exhaust.) New go-fast add-ons include a Lunati camshaft (490 lift, 92 duration, 10 centerline), 030 TRW overbore forged pistons, allory high-output performance distributor, nd Doug Thorley ceramic coated headers. You better believe these upgrades help make a serious rumble out of the quad-tip dual Flowmaster exhaust. All this power is sent through a stout TH350 three-speed automatic. It includes a Summit Racing 2500 RPM stall converter to keep this motor deeper into its powerband at all times. Of course the Trans Am was known to be one of the best handling cars of its time, o this one knows how to go around corners. This is enhanced by the front disc brakes and grippy BF Goodrich G-Force Tires riding on 17-inch American Racing alloy wheels. This is one fire-breathing screaming chicken that finally has the performance to live up to its aggressive looks. The Trans Am of your dreams won't last long at under $25K. Call now!!
