Description of 1967 Pontiac Le Mans |
Like the Catalina that came before it, he LeMans was one of those cars Pontiac aced right out of the gate. Eventually, hanks to GM's continuous improvement and consumer's continuous support, he marque became one of the strongest brands in automotive history. And at one point, ith a full list of body styles, ptions, rim grades, olor combinations and mild to outrageous engines, he challenge became picking a platform which optimized variety and livability. Whoever filed the order form for this investment grade drop-top probably came as close as you can get to having it all. Its original, igh output V8 is a go-to heavyweight for both stoplight brawlers and pony car enthusiasts. Its original Powerglide transmission is as smooth as it is reliable. Its super slick Tyrol Blue on Black color combination literally defines the word classic. And just last year, t took home Best of Show at the AACA meet in Hermitage, ennsylvania. If you're in the market for a top notch example of one of the coolest muscle cars ever produced, his impressive LeMans is just your style! In addition to historic dealer documents and a stack of restoration receipts, he sale of this wide-track beauty includes an original Protect-O-Plate. Here's a look at how the car rolled in to Kimmel Pontiac in Erie, ennsylvania: VIN: 237677PXXXXXX 2 - Pontiac37 - LeMans 67 Convertible 7 - 1967 model year P - Assembled in Pontiac, ichigan XXXXXX - Sequential production number COWL TAG: 03D Assembled during the fourth week (D) of March (03), 96767 1967 model year 23767 Pontiac (2) LeMans (37) Convertible (67) PON Assembled in Pontiac, ichigan 2262 Sequential unit number 223-B Black interior F-2 Tyrol Blue (F) paint that's complemented by a Black (2) top PROTECT-O-PLATE: 223 Black interiorF2 Tyrol Blue (F) paint that's complemented by a Black (2) top 237677PXXXXXX - The car's VIN 464530 - The car's engine unit number YPT 326 cubic inch high output V8 (YP) that's backed by a 2-speed Powerglide (T) transmission 1 G Optional equipment W - Unknown MB150 2-speed Powerglide transmission Born at GM's recently repurposed Pontiac Assembly, his awesome rag-top is the beneficiary of a 7-year rotisserie restoration that massaged every square inch of its sculpted profile into pristine, how-worthy condition. The car's transformation began in 2006, hen its current owner stripped its solid body all the way down to bare metal. With that body smooth and clean, thick layer of primer was buried in two coats of correct Tyrol Blue Deltron. That Deltron was carefully dusted in PPG 2021 clear. And today, his top notch Poncho is as a spectacular muscle car which combines the best aspects of storied tin indian performance with the gratuitous fun and old school style that only a classic convertible can provide! Tough, nderstated and attractive, his LeMans perfectly defines Pontiac's lasting legacy of tempering sophistication with aggression. The front of the car is dominated by segmented and stainless-trimmed grilles, hich are anchored between stacked T3 headlights, broad chrome bumper and restoration-fresh marker lamps. Above those grilles, serious "PONTIAC" script perfectly complements a familiar, atin Silver arrowhead that's adhered to a conservative hood. At the sides of that script, xpressive 'coke bottle' fenders hang dent-free wheel trim and arrow-straight rocker guards around familiar GM door handles. On the outsides of those fenders, ed "326" emblems combine with stainless quarter trim and chrome "LeMans" scripts to lend a little bit of class to the car's performance-worthy profile. Above those emblems, inted glass and highly polished trim prop up a correct, ower-operated roof. And behind that glass, stainless-trimmed valence hangs a second "PONTIAC" script and unassuming tail lights between a second chrome bumper and small "LeMans" emblem. Raise the car's long steel hood and the first thing you'll notice is an original, igh output 326 that was rebuilt by Automotive Machine Service in Cranberry, ennsylvania. Less obvious, f course, s the stalwart engine's correct 86339 casting number, arch (C ) 9th (09), 967 (7) casting date and 285 horsepower-exclusive "YP" build stamp. Originally found in the LeMans and Firebirds alike, his awesome Turquoise mill was Pontiac Motor Division's creative answer to GM's corporate displacement rules. A big 4-barrel carburetor transitions wind from a Satin Black, ingle-snorkel air cleaner to a factory intake that's bolted down over factory internals. 10.5 to 1 compression is sparked by a traditional, oints-style distributor, hich jolts fire through fresh Packard TV R Suppression cables. Cooling is provided by a beefy GM radiator, hich sends water around a correct fan via pliable hoses and old school tower clamps. Exhaust is funneled through a nice pair of fully restored manifolds. And everything, rom the car's mirrored valve covers to its reproduction Delco battery, s exceptionally well done and looks fantastic! Logging few miles since their noble rebirth, his drop-top's smooth floors and straight frame - which was donated by a rust-free parts car, re completely devoid of significant issues and major defects. The stout 326 twists torque to an original, -speed Powerglide, hich spins a correct Safe-T-Track rear end. At the sides of that rock-solid drivetrain, -inch, rue-dual exhaust connects the aforementioned manifolds with an H-shaped crossover, hroaty Magnaflow mufflers and polished stainless tips. At the sides of that booming soundtrack, professionally restored suspension features a beefy sway bar, actory power steering and correct power drum brakes. At the corners of that suspension, quartet of 14-inch steelies spins G70-14 Firestone Wide Oval Super Sport redlines around full, PMD" branded wheel discs. And, s it sits, his Pontiac has no major leaks of any kind, s new fluid lines and a fresh fuel tank retain their restoration-fresh shine. Open this convertible's freshly finished doors and you'll find a correct Black interior that's sporty yet classy. Front-and-center, irm bucket and bench seats feature bright chrome trim, ool pleated covers and era-correct lap belts. The engine's vitals are displayed by a rebuilt gauge cluster, hich integrates round-faced dials just to the left of a correct, everb-equipped radio. On the floor, ike-new carpet anchors Pontiac-branded floor mats below stainless-trimmed foot pedals. At the sides of the car, resh door panels hang chrome handles and subdued metal trim around bright LeMans crests. In front of the driver, satin-spoked steering wheel spins a black rim around a Turquoise, ontiac-branded column cover. And behind the passengers, spotless trunk sandwiches a correct jack and a full-size spare tire between a new mat and fresh decklid decals. Not surprisingly, ajor provenance backs up this classic's factory-correct authenticity.
