Description of 1974 Pontiac Firebird Formula 400 |
Up for sale is my factory 1974 Firebird Formula 400. 4 speed. I've owned this car since 1996. I bought it from the 2nd owner. It was purchased locally and kept in the area. It was all stock when I bought it with 82k. I do have the original engine in storage along with other original parts. The original engine ran when pulled it just had worn rings and valve guides causing light smoke when running. It currently sports a fully rebuilt and balanced 1974 400 short block with Kauffman racing 74cc aluminum heads. crower 60916 "beast" cam and matching lifters. I also have ram air manifolds installed. a quadrajet rebuilt by cliff ruggles and a matching cnc ported stock intake by sd performance. The stock points ignition was converted to an M& H HEI by Bob Davis "suntuned" in Tenn. I had a brand new pipes 2. 5" system installed recently too. I had the front seats redone due to cracking at the seams and the rest of the interior seating is original and nice. The car will need carpet yet as it's torn at the drivers foot. I had the original Hurst shifter sent out and rebuilt by Hurst Shifter rebuild service. The rear end is a 3. 42 ratio posi. There is an 11" center force dual friction clutch with a blow proof bell housing. I also have spherical bearing clutch linkages installed. A brand new battery was also installed recently. The Muncie was taken apart to inspect and found to be in great shape. It has new gaskets and wear items replaced. cleaned up and put back together. I had a poly suspension kit installed last year on the front along with new springs due to a broken spring. Poly body mounts also installed. The rear end needs the poly bushings still. The body does need restored. I have two full oem cut off quarters that are complete. an oem trunk floor. passenger door and aftermarket rear body panel. I am sure the car had at least one repaint and some metal work long before I got it. The front quarter heels were patched. I did some basic backyard work as a kid and it has held up. This car has been kept in a dry garage since I've owned it. no snow and only rain when it was caught out on the road. The original front fenders are in storage and will need lower heels patched in and I have the parts to do the job. I have an original ram air set up installed from a 70 Formula. This car is not a factory RA car. It is currently Pa safety inspected till 2016. It runs well but is cold blooded and works best when warm. It could still use a carb adjustment since the intake was just changed out. It is put away for the winter but anyone is more than welcome to request more pictures or come view the car. I have the original 15" Honeycombs to go back on the car once sold. They were restored around 97. The 17" repro wheels and tires are not included in the sale. I have all the door weatherstrip for the car. door sill plates( nos). roof trim( nos). rocker trim. formula 400 emblems ( nos) and more to finish the car. In the past I installed NOS parts that included. headlight bezels. outer window trim seals. nose bird. all 15" honeycomb trim. lower valance and bumper filler panel. Ask any questions on this car. I have nothing to hide and plenty more pictures of the area under the car when it was on the lift recently. I did not intend to sell this car when I started working on it but due to young children requiring car seats the car is too small to fit those seats. I ask for a non refundable deposit of $200 be sent as a usps money order after the winning bid is placed. You will have 15 days to complete the sale and gather the parts for the car and the car itself and transfer all paperwork. |
