This is a 1978 Gold Edition Trans Am. This was the opposite of the Special Edition. It is solar gold with camel tan interior. I have the PHS documentation that shows this car came with the Y88 option(added $1259 retail price for that option at the time) although it is not stamped on the cowl tag but some that were produced at the Van Nuys, A plant did not according to my research. This paperwork work will come with the car. It was originally sold at Jim Widenhouse Pontiac Buick GMC in Kannapolis, C. The car itself is in rough condition. The previous owner started disassembling it so some of the parts such as the front clip, auges and dash bezel are loosely in place. There may be some parts missing. If it is not pictured it is not included. If you have any questions about a specific item just ask. The wheels pictured on the car do not go with it but the snowflake wheels pictured will(tires are bad on the snowflakes). The car has extensive rust on the whole body(body panels, loors, ruck floors). The accessories and timing cover were taken off of the engine. The engine is not stuck and will turn by hand. It appears to be a 1975 400 engine block with casting number 500557 and code YA. It has the 6X heads. The transmission is an automatic and the fluid looks good but I'm unsure of the condition. The driveshaft has been removed but it is included. The car was setup for headers but they are no longer there. The rear end is not original and it is bad. The previous owner removed the rear end and one axle slides out. I have not looked behind the differential cover to see what is wrong with it. The interior seems to be mostly complete except the console and glove box door. The Y88 Gold Edition cars were rare and were only made for one year. They had several features that made them unique. They had gold tinted t tops unlike other firebirds and this car still has these tops. This car also has the gold grille liners, teering wheel with gold spokes, amel tan steering column and gold shifter button. According to Old Cars Report price guide a parts car 1978 Trans am(base car not a Gold Edition) is valued around $1000 so please bid accordingly. I have a clear North Carolina title for the car. I have two other 1978 firebirds and a 1979 T/A 400 4 speed car that need restoration also that I may sell for the right price if someone is interested in them. I reserve the right to end the auction if I sell the car locally. I will only accept cash in person as payment. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
