1979 Pontiac Firebird Formula The project car withgreat potential. Running, documented, 1979 Pontiac Firebird project. Black exterior, black interior and (at one time) factory tinted windows! This bird was custom ordered, built in Van Nuys, CA and delivered / sold new at Concord, CA. The Firebird has many great features including the 403ci V8 engine, WS6 handling package and factory air conditioning. This bird is offered to restoration experts who will turn it into a car worthy of the concourse. True barn-yarn find: The bird sat collecting mold for over 25 years and remains mostly unmolested; down to the original jack and space saver spare. The odometer reads 50k. Apart from its components being covered in surface rust and the ills of time having gotten the best of the seats; this car could very well be an original 50k bird. After picking it up from theCity of Concord, I had the fuel lines and tank cleaned. There was little to no rust in the tank. I suspect that the gasoline left in the tank while stored did not contain ethanol(early 90's?). The carburetor was also cleaned, but will require full rebuilt in the future. After new oil, a new starter and a new alternator, the engine ran like a champ. It does not overheat. I also put in new tires to test drive it. This firebird is vicious and digs in the pavement with the lightest nudge. The engine's growl is enough to excite your gear-head senses. It starts right up, it shifts in to all gears, it stops and steers like new. No cancer! Being a car from the Bay Area, this is a big feat. It tells the story of a vehicle that was kept from the rain and the heavy-salty fog. The Original Build Sheet and Owner's Manual are included.
