Description of 1988 Pontiac Fiero GT |
Please read: I have listed all of the flaws with this car that are known to me. I have given my best effort to be clear, honest, and not misleading. I have done this so I don’t waste your time or mine. This is a used, 30 year old car with a rebuilt 1960s engine swapped into it. There are many new parts, but this isn’t a restored car or a $25,000, turn-key, V8 Archie car. It is sold as is, period; no warranty, no guarantees, no promises. I am not CarMax and this is not a Camry. This car is purpose-built to be loud and go fast, and it does. I’ve only put 600 miles on it; mostly during Spring/early summer 2015. I would not hesitate to take it on a drive to work (15 miles away) or go run errands in it right now. A few people interested in the car have reached out and asked if it would make a trip across the country. My honest answer is that if it were me I'd use the Ebay shipping option; it’s relatively inexpensive and fully insured. A friend of mine used that option selling his boat; he and the buyer were very pleased. I had a quote for someone from Pittsburgh and it was something like 430 bucks. I think it would make a long trip, but I will not promise anything. I am a motivated seller, but please do not ask me to repair any of the flaws with this vehicle of install Air conditioning or something. I do not have the time. If I did trust me, I would keep the car. ASK YOUR QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU PLACE A BID! SERIOUS BUYERS ONLY I apologize if I come off as a jerk, but I need to Idiot-proof my ad and discourage the wrong type of buyer. I am actually a pretty nice guy. In fact, if you have any questions or want to request more info or photos I’d be happy to answer or get whatever info/photo you need. I might even run up your phone bill chatting about the car. I’ve had a lot of fun building and driving this car, selling it is not something I ever planned to do. I’m selling because I bought a house, am expanding my other hobbies and don’t have the free time for it anymore. 1988 Fiero GT, 62k miles rust free New Mexico car with an Archie kit. Engine swap was done last year. I did not cut corners on the swap, the frame has not been cut, bent, or modified. Countless hours have been put into this car. Listing price is a fraction of what I've put into it. The good: -No reserve -Sunroof car -Rust free -interior is in good shape -Silvania Silverstar headlights -Engine: 1969 327 CI large journal small block. Was built by an engine builder that does a lot of the Sycamore speedway circle track cars. no receipts or proof. He said it was built to spec's of 1965-68 Corvette L79, using Crower components. Engine block casting number 8956618, came from a 1969 Caprice. 7quart oil pan, high volume oil pump, MSD pro billet distributor, Edelbrock performer RPM intake, sanderson cc90 headers, holley 750cfm double pumper carb jetted down, Archie lightweight aluminum flywheel, Centerforce clutch, CSR remote mount water pump (where battery tray was), full stainless exhaust with Flowmaster muffler. Archie 4 core radiator. -Home made coil overs in the rear -Brand new Beretta GTU rims and new Goodyear tires -Electric waterpump is wired up with a relay and key on hot. no switches. -new fuel pump/sending unit, new powermaster starter, new heater core, new dickman slave cylinder, dickman shifter, shift/select cables, dickman ultimate shift kit, new windsheild -Trans mounts are Dickman polyurethane. mounting brackets have been welded and reinforced. -Flushmount Moroso oil filter adaptor, uses both ports and clears starter. Did not use restrictive tiny port above filter like many swaps do. -this car drives really good. Engine runs strong, drives nice, and it is definitely fast car. Most of my friends were are all Fiero-haters and they've changed their attitudes after taking it for a drive. Everyone that drives it is impressed. I'd say it is faster than my wife's brand new 2016 Subaru WRX. The Bad: -Engine is green. I know, most people don't like it but I do. -AC has been deleted. -paint is a bit faded. -needs parking brake cables and equalizer (missing). Fierostore.com sells both cables and equalizer for about 70 dollars -rear decklid has a Mustang scoop glassed onto it. It was done as a favor by a friend who is an amateur with body work. Everything looked good before it was sprayed, but came out with bad orange peel. I am not a body guy and don’t know much about it. -It will indicate that it is overheating on a hot day. I am pretty sure it needs a gauge. I recently took it out on an 80 degree day and tested indicated temp by the water temp gauge vs. what my infrared temp gun read. Temperatures wereconsistently around 40 degrees hotter than what my infrared gun read.70 degree and cooler day it will run at proper indicated temp no problem. I put in a new sender, and same problem exists. I believe it is the temp gauge. -tach needs to be calibrated for a V8 -needs alignment I have a video of it running on a private channel on Youtube I will gladly provide if requested through private message. Buyer is responsible for shipping/handling. Cash only. Please feel free to message me with any questions or appointment to arrange a test drive. |
