Description of 1994 Pontiac Firebird |
Up for auction is a 1994 Pontiac Firebird Formula convertible. I bought this car in 2009 and have only put about 15,000 miles on it in the years since. I've never used it as a daily driver - basically just keeping it in the garage except for weekend cruising and vacation trips. Unfortunately, I’ve accumulated too many toys in recent years, and I’ve had to make a difficult choice about what needs to go. My loss is your gain. This car is a lot of fun. The 5.7L LT-1 runs strong and I don’t hesitate to take it on long trips. The engine is still essentially stock with the exception of a Moroso cold-air intake and a SLP throttle body air foil. New spark plugs were installed recently, in the spring of 2016. The convertible top was replaced by the previous owner and is still in great condition. The top moves up and down with ease at the press of a button. The A/C works fine and is great on those days when it’s even a bit too hot to have the top down. A UMI sub-frame connector was installed a few years ago as well as a strut tower brace. They really tightened up the handling and ride of the car. I absolutely love the look of the 17” ROH Firehawk wheels – they are the best looking wheels ever put on these early 4th-gens in my opinion. I searched long and hard to find a set and I think they really make this car stand out. The tires have only a few thousand miles on them and still have a lot of tread. The interior has been ‘upgraded’ with a steering wheel and console out of a 1997 Trans Am. The original wheels, steering wheel, and console all come with this auction. The original stereo had been removed by a previous owner. I installed a Sony CDX-GT930UI along with a Kenwood KSC-SW10 low-profile powered enclosed sub-woofer, which is under the driver’s seat. Upgrade list…
The car is not perfect and does show the signs of being over 20 years old and nearing 100,000 miles…
Oh, and the car does not have Traction Control (as indicated by the photo). When I installed the newer console, I bought another Transmission Perform assembly so the original could stay with the original console. The new assembly had the additional Traction Control button, which I actually like better, because hey, two buttons. The Transmission Perform button is functional, the Traction Control button is not. 1994 was the first year of the convertible for the new fourth-generation Firebird. Production numbers for all models (Firebird base, Formula, Trans Am) were relatively low, with the Formula seeing the lowest at only approximately 168 produced (I'm not positive this exact number is correct, but most information I've found on-line indicates either this number or one very close to it). So this is not a car you are going to come across every day. Overall, this is a really nice Firebird. Not showroom perfect by any means, but it makes a great weekend car or could even be a solid daily driver. I'd really like to see this car find a good home.
