Description of 1975 Pontiac Trans Am |
Beautiful 1975 Pontiac Trans Am with less than 18,000 original miles. You read this correctly, less than 18,000 original miles. This Trans Am is inexcellent unrestored conditionwith all original paint, interior, body panels and stickers. In fact, this Trans Am is often used as a reference example for others restoring a mid-'70s Trans Am. The car is Silver Metallic with the original Black vinyl interior with red Hood Bird and red nameplates. The body is in great condition, with all the factory body panels and factory undercoating. The Pontiac 400 engine, Borg Warner Super T-10 4 speed transmission and 10 Bolt Positraction rear-end are all the original born-with equipment. The black vinyl interior is often mistaken for brand new, as it looks virtually untouched. As the pictures show, the carpet, seats, door panels and headliner are absolutely like new. The doors shut with the solid "thunk" of a brand new GM F-body. This car has always been babied and kept inside a climate-controlled garage. No accidents, no dragstrip abuse and no reckless owners abusing the car ever. The original owner and subsequent owners are all alive and happy to discuss their history with the car. I am an enthusiast owner who has owned the car for several years; I'm not a dealer. I'm selling the car as I have 3 other classics and my wife says I need to "thin the herd". This Trans Am has virtually every factory option including:
The car is in fantastic condition, as you would expect for a car with less than 20,000 miles that has been garage-kept for its whole life. As you can see in the photos, the car has virtually all of its original paperwork including showroom brochures, owner's manual, maintenance manual, dealership order form, etc. The Trans Am has been well cared for and has been kept in a heated garage for virtually all of its life. I have notarized statements from the prior owners attesting to the almost unbelievably low miles on this car. The ownership chain is unbroken and all the history will go with the car. A lot of paperwork (see picture) comes with the car including the original owner's manual, warranty book, order form, Pontiac Historical Society Paperwork verifying that is a real Trans Am, reproduction window stickers and original dealer brochures. Mechanically the TA is in great running condition, including these recent repairs - newish tires, fresh AC/Delco battery, new clutch and stainless steel Pypes correct dual exhaust system with cross-over pipe. It has been well maintained using high-zinc content Shell Rotella oil, fuel with stabilizer and protection from the effects of ethanol. This Trans Am rides and handles like a much newer car and drives really well on the highway, keeping up with current traffic nicely. The Pypes exhaust adds a few extra horsepower to the Trans Am and a nice rumble that doesn't drone. These cars are only original once - and it's one of the most original Trans Ams in existence. Here's how you can tell that it is original - both the ignition door buzzer and the factory "hairy" air intake hose are both on the car and in perfect condition. Don't let this one get away - it's an example of "how they used to build them". This is a car you can get into and drive it anywhere you want at anytime. It runs harder than its 185 HP rating would indicate (the exhaust system helps bump up the power) and it handles like a more modern car because of its low center of gravity and relatively wide tires for the era. While there are other '75 Trans Ams for sale on Ebay and elsewhere, none of them have the low miles of this car, are totally original, are equipped with the 4 speed transmission, have the mix of options or the documented owner history of this car. Please note that while this car is in great condition, it is a 41 year old car - it's not like a brand new Honda Accord. The original GM lacquer paint looks great, but it is getting thin in spots. There is a tiny spot of corrosion around the passenger side of the rear window where the window trim meets the roof (see pictures). The factory air works but doesn't blow cold; it will need to be recharged. The fuel gauge consistently reads over full and the radio and 8 track player don't currently play (could be a fuse needing replacement). This is possibly the lowest-mileage '75 Trans Am in existence. I highly recommend you come to Massachusetts to inspect the car personally or send someone local to New England to come check it out for you. You will be impressed. If you want a great example of a second generation Trans Am that drives as good as it looks, then this could be the car for you.
