Description of 1970 Pontiac Trans Am |
Frame off Rotisserie RestorationPHS Documented Here you go one of the most sought after collector cars ever made. One of only 1339 automatics out of 3108 ever made. PHS states most likely the survival rate of these cars are 10-15% which I agree. that puts the number around 300 - 1970 Trans Am's left in the world. Assuming that there were only two colors this car came in Polar White w/Blue stripe or Lucerne Blue w/White stripe. Assuming out of the 300'ish total left maybe 200 are this color scheme. I have owned this car for almost 20 years and have watched the market and they are few and far between. Go to any regional car show and you may see one!!!! Camaro's are on every corner. When I got the car it unfortunately did not have the original power plant so that simply allowed me to make it run and handle even better than original. With hints of the Trans Am racing series from that era and the new Pro Touring vibe that exist today I have spent along time and a ton of money making this chariot bad ass. I will list all I can remember about my baby. New Paint. Motor is a beast 462 pretty much built to Ram IV specs but better. Head were worked by the famous Ben Barnes in Asheville. NC a NASCAR Legend engine builder. It's cooled by huge 4 core aluminum radiator with dual electric fans. Fuel is feed with electric fuel pump and Holley Carb. Transmission is Turbo 400 built by Cook's racing Transmissions in Spartanburg. SC the first torque converter I had in the car was a TCI Saturday night special. See pictures included it was not nearly enough and destroyed the planetary. It was replaced with a custom billet torque converter from R&R in Asheville. NC. All this runs thru the New GM 12 bolt with 3. 55 gears and of course it's Posi. The car has around 550hp torque is greater than that and you can tell when you can snap the 315's loose on a roll. To stop the beast it has Baer Brakes on all corners. 13" up front and 12" out back. It will stop in a Hurry. Wheels are American Racing Gray Torque Thrust wrapped in BFG's. 275's up front and 315's out back and it has a incredible stance. Hotchkis Suspension including huge sway bars. Springs and KYB shocks. Exhaust starts with Hooker Super Comp with Jet Hot Treatment inside and out. and turns into full SpinTech X-Pipe and mufflers. If you never heard their exhaust you have been cheating yourself and it looks as good as it sounds check the video. Interior is all new and I used Simpson Safety restraints to hold you butt in the seat and I promise when you corner you need them. New headliner. Carpet and Interior front and rear. New Class all around. Door panels are from Year One to accommodate the custom stereo very tastefully done. Wiring completely redone with Painless System. I have ran the car twice on the track and I assure you it's deep into the 12's with street tires. This car was built for the street and runs great!!! The only reason I'm selling it is because I'm an idiot!!! No just have a ton of other projects going on right now. As a extra Bonus included in the sale is 1998 Trans Am with a 500 hp LS1 / 6speed. If you are feeling crazy you can shelf the 462 and Trubo 400 and add the LS power plant. I have most all the receipts from the build. it didn't happen over night and took some time. PHS paper work proving its the real deal included. https://www. youtube. com/watch?v=U6N5Tbe7YQ0 |
