Description of 1977 Pontiac Trans Am |
1977 Pontiac Trans Am Bandit Supercar
Hello and thank you for looking at my auction. Up for sale is a 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. When the movie Smokey and the Bandit came out, the Trans Am in the movie was not as powerful as it appeared to be. In actuality, Trans Ams of that era were barely making 200 horsepower through choked-down, emissions compliant engines. When this car was built, that lack of power was fully rectified. This particular Trans Am is packing a fire-breathing, high compression 455 Pontiac engine, backed by a 4 speed manual transmission. Although I haven't had the car on a dyno, I would fully expect both horsepower and torque numbers to be in the 500+ range. The engine and transmissionrun STRONG, tight, and with no hesitation whatsoever. It will sit at a light and rumble with the cammed-up idle of a race car, and run up to the roar of high RPM in the blink of an eye. I will go into all the engine specifics below...... The car is finished in Midnight Black and fully dressed in correctSpecial Edition "Bandit" decals and pinstriping. The paint is very nice but the car is driven so it isn't museum quality. The wheels are custom made by US Mag and are staggered with 18's on the front with huge 20's on the back. The car is absolutely eye-catching and looks almost like a life-sized Hot Wheels car. Make no mistake, you will be the center of attention wherever you go in this thing. Between the looks of the car, the sound of the huge 3 inch exhaust trumpeting the cackling idle of the cammed-up 455, and the popularity of these cars....you will be the hero of the local cruise night while you scare little old ladies. The interior was completely re-done with high quality custom leather and suede seats, door panels, and console. It brings the inside of the car up to date with a retro-modern look and a comfortable feel. The stereo is a modern touch screen one, and the touch screen has stopped working. All of the lights, horn, turn signals, wipers, and heater work perfectly. The gauge surround has also been covered with matching suede, and the steering wheel was color matched. There is absolutely no feeling in the world like turning the key on a Trans Am, rowing through the gears while the insane power of the big engine whisks you away into the night. This one is an absolute monster and it is truly a great time to drive. Some of the technical performancedetails are as follows: Pontiac 455 bored .030, balanced and blueprinted, ported 62 heads, angle milled, stainless valves andfull roller rockerswith dished forged pistons 11-1 compression, Comp Cams pushrods and guides, Ram Air IV cam, Jet Performance Stage 2 QuadraJet carb, Pertronix FlameThrower distributor, Holley Blue electric fuel pump with regulator, 10 quart Moroso oil pan, Hooker Super Comp headers with full 3" exhaust, Zoom clutch with Lakeland scatter shield and driveshaft loop, Hurst Line Lock, 4:56 Richmond Gears THIS CAR IS SOLD AT NO RESERVE.
