An excellent combination of restoration and preservation makes this 1967 Pontiac Firebird convertible exciting. But when this first-year icon is in an interesting color and packs a 400ci punch from a correct V8, then you're looking at true excellence in a beautiful package.Sure, we love '60s power machines in red and black, but here's a more sophisticated way to standout. This is an exceptional re-spray of the factory-correct code-N Burgundy. When the sunlight hits it, there's an amazing shine thanks to a modern clearcoat. And quite frankly, you know you want your droptop looking its best on a sunny day, because that's exactly what it was built for. But more than just a great color, these first-year Firebirds were instant classic thanks to the bold styling. It starts with the unique chrome bumper that gives the whole front end Pontiac's wide track look. Good bodywork helps make sure items like the crease that runs from nose to tail is crisply defined, and you recognize the ribbed quarter panels are a cool contrast that helps break up the otherwise smooth body. This one really has a great look with classic elements like the 400 callouts on the hood scoops; nice restoration pieces like the newer white folding roof; and standout upgrades like the Boyds 5-spoke alloys. The black bucket seat interior is neatly done and carries an exceptional level of factory correctness. This is the direct result of a proper investment in keeping it looking great. You paid a bit more for a Pontiac back in the day, so it's nice to see it now with welcomed extras like the wood appearance on the dash and the desirable center console with floor shift. You have complete control from the driver's seat as you grab the factory three-spoke wheel that gives a clear view of the dual pod gauge layout. And once your right hand touches the Hurst shifter, you know your heart will be racing even before you twist the key and hear this Firebird roar.Under the hood is well-presented 400 cubic-inch V8. The Pontiac turquoise block is nicely complemented with a bright air cleaner and valve covers. The V8 is a legend in Pontiac circles for being a terrific street machine, and it only gets better with a nice upgrade to an Edelbrock Performer intake and four-barrel carburetor. Those headers add even more power as they feed the rumbling glasspack-style dual exhaust. This Pontiac is meant to be a true driver's car that gives you complete control and feel for the road. That's why you can take command of the powerband with the four-speed manual transmission, and there's even superior grip from the modern performance tires. This Pontiac's great original looks are backed up by the owner's manual that's included with the sale. These stick-shift, first-year droptop Firebirds are a rarity, especially when so nicely presented. So yes, you do need to hurry to grab this deal.
