Description of 1971 Pontiac Le Mans GT-37 |
1971 PONTIAC GT-37 "PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION"PHS DOCUMENTED (SEE PIC TO SEE PHS PAPERWORK) PLEASE DO NOT BID IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE FUNDS READY. EXTREMELY RARE COLOR - CODE 61 SANDALWOOD EXTERIOR / SANDALWOOD INTERIOR WITH FACTORY BLUE REFLECTIVE STRIPING. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU SAW THAT COLOR COMBO- PONTIAC GUYS HAVE BEEN TELLING ME THAT THIS COULD BE A ONE OFF (NOT SURE- AS PONTIAC DOES NOT HAVE THE COLOR BREAKDOWNS) ESPECIALLY WITH THE BLUE STRIPING AND AIR CONDITION OPTION IN WHAT WAS SUPPOSE TO BE THE "POOR MAN'S GTO". I KNOW I HAVE NEVER SEEN ONE LIKE IT A LOT OF WHITE, BLUES, REDS AND BLACKS BUT NO SANDALWOOD'S !!CAR APPEARS AS IT WOULD AND HAS NOT BEEN ALTERED IN REGARDS TO IT'S DRIVETRAIN OR APPEARANCE. GT-37 OPTION: 14" RALLY WHEELS W/O TRIM RINGS, RAISED 70 SERIES WHITE LETTER TIRES, DUAL BODYSIDE MIRRORS W/LH REMOTE, HOOD PINS, DUAL EXHAUST WITH DUAL TIPS THRU REAR VALANCE CUTOUTS, BASE ENGINE 350 V8 2BBL, OPTIONAL STRIPING INSTALLED ON THE LE MANS BASE, BENCH SEAT ONLY. 1971 1/2 PONTIAC GT-37 350 2BBL / 2 SPEED AUTOMATIC / POWER BRAKES / POWER STEERING / AIR CONDITIONING (in-op, but all there). The GT-37 isNOTfully restored, but is what Isay has had a real good re-conditioning. It is a great weekend cruiser. It runs and drives really good, stops straight. The engine block does not match, however, the heads (cast 94), intake manifold, carb etc all seem to belong to the car. Looking under the hood looks really stock. Previous owner said the motor was matching, but the engine blockcode is WD andI don't believematch. Backstory on the car: Just from digging into this car and did some research. The GT-37 sold in TN andspent a lot of it's time in St. Louis area andwas maintained and had a re-paint and upholstery re-done in the 1980's. Then upon being sold in St. Louis areait was drivin' very little over several years and at that time the driver's side window was broken and the vinyl mat (GT-37's came standard without carpeting) and floor boards got rusty.So... I replaced the floor with new pans, and the body was touched up. Thepaint which was painted recently, buffed out and polished. The paint is decent, not show quality, but good quality . There are a few paint chips and flaws in the body, but very presentable. I putthe correct BLUE REFLECTIVE GT-37 Sword stripingon. Replaced door, glove box and trunk locks.Replaced the tires with new RWL 70 tires and new lug nuts and center caps. Replaced the rear coil springs. I also replaced the hood pins and located a lot of missing trim and replaced the weatherstripping and windowfelts. New halogen headlights. I gave the 350 a tune upwith new plugs, cap, rotor and points, new air cleaner. The air conditioner does not work, but it all there under the hood. The heater corehas a small leak so I had to bypass the heater hose. New Flow Tech Red Hots Glass Packs and replaced the exhaust tips. Interior, I replaced the headliner, added carpet, package tray, door sill plates and cleaned and re-dyed the upholstery. The door panels have had some repairs and should be replaced, but I have not been able to locate a good set of standard 71 panels (GTO panels are of a different design). The trunk pans have had patches over the years, it is ok for now, but may be something a new owner can replace in the future. The trunk lid still needs trunk torsion rods to hold the lid up. A few notable things I noted that still may need to be addressed: The RH rear tail light assembly has seen better days, duct work under dash is missing, the fuel guage works sometimes, chrome bumpers show there age (fading, pitting), some body panel alignment etc. Just little odd and thingscan be doneto make it an even better car. Car is being SOLD AS-IS. I tried my best to describe a 46 year old car. There are no guarantees whatsoever. Please email with questions and read the description full. DEPOSIT IS DUE WITHIN 24 HOURS. |
