Description of 1971 Pontiac Trans Am white / blue interior

The 1971 Pontiac Trans Am 455 H.O. The car that started it all. And it wasn't the "Bandit". 1971 was not a good year for ANY muscle car. However, Pontiac continued to defy the trend and came out with the second generation Trans Am. Jusand it t over 2000 total Trans Am's were made ( 1,231 were automatics) in '71 and it looked like the muscle car was dead. This was the last year of the factory high horsepower big block, even though the Trans Am model continued for decades a a brand.
Pontiac took cues from its race cars and added fully functional body add ons like front and rear spoilers, side fender heat exhaust, wheel flares that created down force and an engine that rose from under the hood to maximize the motors breathing. Everything added was functional...and looked fantastic.
Pontiac's first 455 H.O. ( for High Output), it created 335 brake horsepower with 480 lbs/feet of torque. It was Pontiac's finest motor yet ! Compression was 8.4 to 1. She came stock with a 4 barrel Rochester carburetor. a REAL Shaker hood with a functional opening air flap that opened on "kick down" to increase air flow to the engine. AWESOME.
This was the year that the Trans Am was based on a race car. Not an imitation of one with a huge "Screaming Chicken" on the hood and 135 H.P. Burt Reynolds made the '77 T/A famous in the movie. But the 71 would "Kick its ass".
