This beautiful 1978 Pontiac Firebird is powered by a 400 cubic inch Pontiac V8 paired to an automatic transmission. This largely unmodified example has a believed accurate 52,514 miles from new. It is equipped with the Trans-Am performance package from the factory and retains its original equipment as confirmed by the included build sheet, PHS documentation, and invoice. The car is finished in its original Mayan Red color, and appears to retain original-type trim and graphics, including the often-removed color-keyed rub strips. The original snowflake wheels are in good condition and wear Goodyear Eagle GT tires. The vibrant red interior is unmodified, and retains the original steering wheel and functional 8-track player. The plastic surfaces appear free of fading, and the A/C works. In 1978 there were two 6.6L V8s available in the Trans Am. This car is fitted with the 220 horsepower 400 cubic inch Pontiac V8 (the attached X7 stamping on the engine confirms that this is the 220 horsepower unit). The engine is believed to be stock apart from some chrome underhood dress-up pieces, including the alternator, dipstick tube bracket, and upper radiator hose. Copies of the original build sheet and invoice are included and show that this car is fairly heavily optioned, including a factory heavy duty radiator, additional sound insulation, custom velour interior group, and the Trans-Am Special Performance package. All panel gaps look even and panels present straight lines throughout, no noticeable rust present. Clean Florida Title.
