Description of 1970 Pontiac Trans Am Trans Am

One of only 1,339 1970 Trans Ams built with an automatic and likely one of very few that came with factory AC. First year of the 2nd generation trans am this car was sold in San Antonio, Texas by Superior Pontiac and is garaged only 25 minutes from where it started life. The odometer currently reads 99,270 miles. You can see the PHS verified order sheet with VIN and options list in the photos. The prior owner I bought it from indicated he spent over $50,000 restoring this car to a 95% level about 10 years ago and the car comes with a thick folder of receipts. The prior owner did take it to a car show or two and received top 25 in show awards for her. I have enjoyed it for about 10 years but work and travel mean it is time to thin my collection and find someone who will give her the attention she deserves.
Drive Train - Very rare to find, this car is complete with it's original numbers matching 400 c.i. Ram Air III correct YZ code engine and VIN # stamping on the block (see pics). It has correct Ram AIr III code 12 heads and was rebuilt by the prior owner to original specs with solid lifters and cam. The correct number carburetor on this car was just rebuilt this January. The power is delivered by a 400 turbo transmission through a 12 bolt rear end. The drive train on this car has it's born with 345HP engine and correct components and delivers very strong torgue. Oil pressure runs strong at 75-80LBS (see pics). Very hard to find an early trans am with all this still intact.
Exterior/Interior - Restored with original factory acrylic Polar White paint and blue striping 10 years ago the paint is in very good condition with only a couple spots showing some minor bubbling or stress cracks (see pics - left door header, jamb, left front headlight area chips) and one hairline crack in the trunk valance above the lock. All sheet metal, floor pans, trunk pans etc. seem in good shape. The udner carriage was painted Polar White in the last restoration. Factory correct rims with BF Goodrich rubber the prior owner elected to restore this car with rear rims one size wider than stock but it looks good. The interior seating, carpet and headliner were redone new in the restoration and overall the interior looks nice. All gauges are functional. The gas gauge is not correct and had to have come from a later model trans am. As with most the clock in the tach does not work.
Needs - The car is in good condition but has not seen much drive time in recent years. Things it will/may need include; a) replace the transmission pan gasket. The cork one has dried out and does leak some transmission fluid on the floor. A new composite silicone gasket and pan are included with the car (just have not had time to change it out), b) the brakes work okay but have a bit too much dead peddle feeling for my taste so I'd get them serviced, c) the prior restoration did not finish the AC installation which needs compressor, brackets, AC hoses and some under dash ductwork to be completed, d) the drivers door hinges are weakening so door hinges ought to be replaced to help door close correctly without slamming (a common issue on these heavy doors)(passenger side is fine), e) there is no radio currently installed so you can go original or modern as you wish.
That's the evaluation on this car from a current review and past knowledge. For the asking price it is well below others which may be a newer or more complete restoration leaving room to spend a bit and still have a nice, fun investment grade rare car. This is a NO RESERVSE AUCTION so good luck. Just a reminder there is no warranty with this car and it is sold as is. I've tried to cover everything but be sure to ask any questions in advance of bidding so you have a full understanding of what you are buying and have no buyers remorse. I want a happy buyer!
