Description of 1967 Pontiac GTO GTO |
1967 Pontiac GTO 4 Speed Positraction Convertible! On Thanksgiving Day, Dr. Frank Rawlings, a Cardiologist from upstate New York picked up his new 1967 GTO Convertible. Regimental Red, with black interior, a 4 speed and a 3.55 posi rear end. This was Dr. Frank dream car, and he cared for it very carefully. In the fall of 1969 he drove the GTO to Utah for his 30 year dream job at the University of Utah. The car was always garage kept and kept road ready. In 2002, after retiring Frank moved back to the Northeast, having his beloved GTO shipped back with him. The car sat, for about 8 years...as Pete took up traveling the World. The car had accumulated some 57,000 miles. Between 2010 and 2012, Pete had the 57,000 mile engine resealed, hardened valve seats installed, ect. He had a new clutch fitted, and the original Harrison Radiator re-cored. The original paint was badly checked from age, so a $15,000respray in the original Regimental Red was done. This is one of the highest quality repaints I have ever seen. The car does not have a dent, ding, scratch, ect. The paint is flat as a pancakeand the car is arrow straight. A new top was installed at the same time. The bumpers and brightwork are all original and in impeccable shape. A true testament to how this car was cared for over the years! This car is rust free, perfect original floors and trunk, original 1/4 panels, etc. This is no bondo bucket. The interior is very original...down to the carpet! It shows very well! The steering wheel is a fine replacement, as the diameter was a bit smaller to help Frank get in and out of the car at his age. At this time power steering and power brakes, and a tilt wheel were retrofitted with all correct parts, to make the car easier to drive. At the time the engine was resealed, a few incorrect things were done. The car got the "Edelbrock" air cleaner. The 063 carb was replaced with "another" Pontiac carb. So, the carb, air cleaner, steering wheel are technically incorrect. $1,000 if you were so inclined you could correct this...but the car is fine "as-is". The motor runs great! Always starts right up, excellent power, oil pressure, never runs hot, no smoke, ect. The original M-20 4 speed shifts great, with new seals, clutch, pilot bearing, throwout bearing, ect. Brakes, suspension were also all rebuilt in the past 1000 miles...this car is ready to go! Lets talk about the hood tach, although not original to the car, it is the "early 67" style, and was installed at the dealer, and delivered that way when the car was new. This Goat is a "no excuses" car that will always be worth money. I purchased this car from the Estate, and my interests have changed...so I'm selling some of the collection. I have a Tyrol Blue 67 Automatic Coupe I've listed and a black, black, white top automatic convertible I'll be listing as well. I can assist with shipping! I have been collecting Pontiacs for a long time and need to sell off some of my pieces, need storage space. My cell # is 630 273-7595 |
