Please read the whole description, lots of good information here and if I didn't answer your questions here, please feel free to reach out. I've owned a lot of classic cars and I don't like surprises any more then you do so I've listed everything I know about the car here. This 1969 Catalina Convertible is in exceptional shape. I know where the usual trouble spots are and this one really is surprisingly rust/rot free. Aside from a few small bubbles on the hood, I see no need for body work, no poorly done patches and no signs of someone trying to cover something up. Upgraded sound system with bass bin in the trunk – ready for fun, top down cruising with the tunes cranked! Runs and stops well, AC works, power top works and is in great shape. I’ve owned and sold quite a few classic cars over the years and I’ve tried to answer the questions that people seem to ask most often. Please read the whole description below. What is the mileage? Odometer reads 21,768. I don't know if it's turned over. I don't focus much on mileage because after 49 years it's hard to verify if it's turned over or if the engine has been rebuilt etc. That's just my opinion. That said, I don't think this motor has been out of the car, it's all there and looks totally original. Why are you selling it? Not sure why this is important but every time I sell a car people ask so….I have a 68 Firebird, 62 Grand Prix, a Jeep project and a vintage camper I'm restoring so I'm just running out of space. Do you know the history of the car? The guy I bought it from had it for maybe 10 years and drove it very little. Before that it was owned by a guy in town who owns a service station and services a lot of classic cars, he took very good care of it also. When I bought it I had my good friend check it out. I know what I'm looking at but this friend owns a high end classic car restoration business and he's a body/paint wizard. He gave it a solid thumbs up. Any defects? The guy I bought it from replaced the door gaskets but didn't do it quite right so now the door closes on a chunk the rubber gasket and the when closed the door doesn’t sit right unless you slam it. At first I thought the hinges were bad but they are actually fine. I'll probably just trim some of it off, this car doesn't see rain anyway.The front seat upholstery has a good amount of rips, especially on the drivers side. The rest of the upholstery is really good. The original convertible top switch is not hooked. The top is hooked up to an aftermarket switch which currently just rests on top of the steering wheel but works fine. Convertible top boot is missing. There are a few small bubbles in the paint on the hood roughly in the center. Aside from a few other small scrapes, this is the only bubble I’ve seen and overall. Two barrel, single exhaust, goes well and stops well. Might have wheel out of balance, slight wobble at medium speed, very minor. Gas gauge is not working. CD got stuck in the CD player recently but it still works, may need adjustment. How’s the top? Any rips? Top is great, was professionally replaced not long before I bought it. Zero rips, fits great, hydraulics and mechanisms all work great. I don’t have the boot. |
