Description of 1979 Pontiac Trans Am WS6. W72. |
4 Speed W72, WS6. Numbers Matching custom built engine with more than 400 Horsepower on Pump Gas. This beautiful Bronze Metallic Trans Am represents about only 2.5% of all the Trans Am’s that were built in1979. It is equipped with the W72 4 speed Pontiac 400, 323 Positive Traction Rear, WS6 4 wheel Disc Brakes and Factory T Top roof package. The numbers matching engine was removed updated and rebuilt with the best speed equipment available. It has an Eagle steel crank, H beam rods, custom forged domed top pistons built specificly for the factory 6X heads. The heads have been ported and polished and with the piston combination yield just below a 10 to 1 compression ratio. It uses a Comp Cams roller cam shaft with Harlan sharp 1.5 roller rockers. The air and fuel is supplied by opening the Factory Hood Scoop as it was originally intended so it can supply the Jet Stage III, 800 CFM carburetor all the fresh air it needs. Exhaust is handled by custom Ram Air III 2.5 inch manifolds that are routted into a PYPES Stainless Steel 2.5 inch custom exhaust. This factory Stock appearing engine confidently produces more than 400 crank horsepower and this all done with pump gas. But make no mistake about it, this car drives and sounds like the real Muscle Car it truly is. This is an amazing rust free example of the much desired WS6, W72 Trans Am package. It is has had one repaint at some point in his life. As the pictures reflects it shows a deep luster with a Metallic underlay just as the Factory production Paint was when new. The paint appears to have some age on it and shows some wear and scratches. As you can see in the pictures the car is truly stunning. I have seen some so-called show cars with paint not as nice. However I would rate this as a very very nice driver quality paint job. The Camel Factory interior is more amazing and presents itself as if it was showroom new. The carpet looks brand new as well and sits atop Dynomatt sound deader and insulation. The music is supplied by the factory looking powerful retro radio that has an auxiliary connection for your favorite player. You can also push a button and raise the factory power antenna and listen to your favorite AM or FM radio station. The car came from the Factory fully equipped with, T Tops, power steering, 4 wheel power disc brakes, air conditioning (does not work). 17 inch pristine snowflake wheels, power antenna, power door locks, power windows (slow) power trunk, rear window defroster, tilt steering wheel, front and rear sway bars, Factory 323 gear ratio with positive traction. All this comes together and is put down on the road by Pontiacs exclusive RTS, Radial Tuned Suspension for amazing handling and steering. Oh, I almost forgot to mention the tachometer with clock (keeps perfect time) and the full compliment of Factory gauges that keep you in touch with the operation of that powerful engine. The car always runs cool and is powerful even on the hottest days. Feel free to contact or message me. I will make sure to check for them multiple times each day. If you wish send me your phone number and I will call to answer any questions. Better yet if you are close enough come see the car in person or send someone that you trust to check it out. You can also call me and leave a message. I will try to get back to you in a timely fashion. 202-345-2883.
