It was given modern replaceable main and rod bearings, the valve seats were hardened to take todays low octane fuel, and they shaved the head slightly to increase the compression ratio from 6.5 to 8.0 to give it more power when driving. New forged aluminum pistons and rods were custom made by Egg Pistons. The front wooden floorboardswere replaced with marine grade plywood. The car has the original 6-volt system and to ensure trouble-free driving, the original generator was replaced with a 6-volt 30 amp alternator and the old mechanical fuel pump with an electric pump. It also has a new battery. The chrome is all original, restored in Nashville. Stamping on the block says the engine was originally forged in November 1932. ’33 was the first year Pontiac made the venerable Flathead straight eight and it was subsequently produced until 1952. The drive shaft housing seal leaks a little bit where the driveshaft housing enters the tailshaft of the transmission.Thisleak has been stopped with a temporary fix.It is not a major leak; an original seal will be required to fix it properly. The second issue is the vacuum operated windshield wiper. It needs replaced (The current owner did not drive it in the rain.) Otherwise, this Pontiac is Turn-Key Ready.
