Only 1 of Only 458 Made! Numbers Matching! 1972 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am finished in Cameo White with a Black Vinyl Interior. A stellar fully-restored example of the classic American Muscle car that's powered by its original 'Born With' 455c.i. H.O. 4bbl V8 engine and backed by its original Muncie M22 'Rock Crusher' 4-Speed Manual Transmission. This classic has undergone a frame-off restoration and features an HEI Ignition, New vintage-look Goodyear Polyglass white-lettered tires on 15"... Rally Wheels with Polished Beauty Rings, Power Front Disc Brakes, Rear Drum Brakes, 3.42 Axle Ratio, Lower Restriction Dual Exhaust with Chrome Extensions, and AM/FM Radio. During the extensive restoration, extra attention was paid to the underside to replicate the factory's 'Red Oxide' primer with body color overspray, as original. The exhaust system is near concourse, duplicating the original system from the Ram-Air manifolds through 2.25" dual pipes to the single transverse muffler above the rear axle. The restored chassis/underbody also features the original front and rear sway bars with bushings and GM "spiral" type shock absorbers. The Shaker Hood-Scoop is completely functional, a detail where many restorations fall short. Correct spare wheel and jack are in the trunk. There is PHS documentation, owner's manual, and an extra key included, along with the original ignition parts. This is a spectacular example that will be a cherished addition to any collection. Drive it home today. With the introduction of the second-generation Firebird, the 1970 model year introduced the world to the Pontiac Firebird Trans Am and it came into its own as a bare-knuckles brawler. Functional spoilers and vents abounded, while super-tough underpinnings and quickened steering gave it corner-hungry handling. Firebird and Camaro grew more European in nature with their second-generation redesign, but the scooped and spoilered 1970 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am was a pure American muscle car, and more immodest than ever. Those looks carried on through the 1972 model year and launched the Firebird into the likes of "cult classic." The new Trans Am looked like it was plucked right off the race track. There's no small wonder with the wonderfully styled exterior and all the racing spoilers and air dams that this car was so popular. Most muscle cars were pushed into extinction or saw dismal sales during the 1970s. Not the Trans Am, the 1970s was all about the Trans Am -- it was the undeniable King of American performance cars and it had the sales to prove it.
