Trans Ams are red hot right now. So yes, you're far from the only person who loves a cool T-top Pontiac. Which means if you're going to get your hands on one for the long term, you'll make sure it has a true distinction. That's why we love this 1979 10th Anniversary Edition. With a name like Platinum Silver the paint needs to shine. That's why this was resprayed later in life to return plenty of luster that... gets lost over the decades. But when diving into a special classic like this, it's important you invest in the details, too. So we're happy to see all the pieces particular to this car are in place. It starts up front with the wide air dam that sets off the aggressive appearance. On the hood is a special version of the "screaming" bird that's exclusive to these cars. It's wider than normal, and it helps set up the charcoal accent color that runs from the shaker hood, around the doors, and ends at the pinstripe behind the T-tops. And speaking of the pinstripe, this red and black dual line also runs across the fender flares to match the bold Trans Am decal on the fenders. Plus, it also provides another color separation line on the bumpers and rear spoiler. Even the Daytona 500 NASCAR pace car decals match with these colors for a fully coherent appearance across the whole car. This was truly a unique package that was expensive to coordinate in the 1970s, and no factory likely would even try to attempt it today. It's even the debut of the now-iconic turbo-style aluminum wheels. And even the center caps match in this detail-oriented T/A. Inside, the silver leather seats are so special to this package that it's nice to have them looking highly original. They coordinate with the full silver interior, including the dash, carpeting, sports steering wheel, and door panels with the special bird logos embroidered like the exterior stripes. So on a special silver package like this, the machine-turned dash panel looks even more appropriate. Best of all, you can share it with the world thanks to the removable glass T-tops. For the right person this is a great car with plenty of extras. It includes provisions for features such as air conditioning, power windows, and an AM/FM/cassette stereo. The 6.6-liter V8 has an authentic appearance right down to the factory shaker hood that everybody remembers so well. The block is still covered in factory-correct Pontiac Blue paint, and it looks like this powerplant has been treated to good regular maintenance. The motor makes great muscle car sounds out of the dual exhaust, and it moves the car with authority. The Trans Am has a reputation for not only being quick, but also as one of the best all-around handling sports cars of its day. That's why you have great features like sway bars front & rear, as well as four-wheel disc brakes. Plus, this one has long-haul comfort, too, thanks to a three-speed automatic transmission and power steering. So if you want a classic Trans Am that will always have distinction, all you have to do is call today!
