Description of 1965 Pontiac GTO |
Offered with a low no-reserve opening bid!Click the links below for videos of the car running.1965 Pontiac GTO Coupe, very nice solid car that will make a great driver. It was taken off the road about 10 years ago and stored in a barn until just this past winter. Last owner claims the engine is a 400 with Formula heads but I have not confirmed.Has had head work done, cam, headers, and Edelbrock intake & carb.Appears to have been a fresh rebuild with very little miles. New battery, alternator & belt, plugs & wires, and carburetor rebuilt. It starts right up and runs beautifully. Sounds great and is very responsive. Two-speed automatic transmission, likely original. In 1965 GTO's ordered with an automatic transmission without a console were column shift as this car was however someone has converted the car to floor shift with a Hurst shifter and correct console. Very nice interior with original upholstery, new carpet, and competition gauges. Odometer reads 19737 miles. The headliner has been removed. The floors are solid with no rot and just a couple small old patches. The rear quarters appear to have been replaced and their's signs of a few small patches here and there but overall the body is straight with very solid door bottoms and rockers. The paint is old with flaking and some touch ups but could be made presentable for a driver with a little work. Bumpers and Cragar wheels have surface rust with chrome flaking. Truck floor has been patched but is solid. The trunk lid and/or panel between the rear window and trunk are out of alignment and will need some adjusting. Frame is solid with no rot and exhaust looks to be in good condition. This was a clean driver that was just put away for the last decade and needs to be freshened up. Everything works, lights, gauges. Have driven in the parking lot only, brakes seem to work fine but I would suggest going through them to be safe. Glass is all good with no cracks. A great looking and strong running GTO that will be the perfect summer cruiser with your finishing touch! NO TITLE - Sold on Connecticut bill of sale only.
